Pokémon Sword & Shield How To Find & Evolve Bergmite Into Avalugg

The giant iceberg Pokémon Avalugg returns in Sword & Shield, here's how to add it to your team. Bergmite is a cute little Ice-type Pokémon that looks like a living iceberg. Then it evolves into the monstrous Avalugg, which has great Defenses but unfortunate typing. It was introduced in Gen VI as part of the X/Y crew. Now it returns as part of the Pokédex.

Where To Find Bergmite In Sword & Shield

As one can easily guess, Bergmite likes the snowy part of Galar. It can be found on the icy route to Spikemuth, Route 9. There it has a good chance of spawning in the overworld in most types of weather. You can also find them near the Lake of Outrage when it's snowing.

What Avalugg Does In Battle

Avalugg's stats are very extreme. It has ridiculously high Defense, but atrocious Special Defense and Speed. An would take advantage of this by giving Avalugg a Defense-boosting move and Recover/Leftovers so that it stays in the fight way longer than other Pokémon could. You could even give it something like Toxic or Hail to wear down opposing Pokémon as they try to break the ice. The problem with Avalugg is that Special Defense. As an Ice-type, it's weak to fire, and there are a lot of Pokémon with Flamethrower out there. The Sturdy Ability can save it from being one-hit KO'd, but that only means so much. Most of the time the better move is to switch out Avalugg when Charizard comes knocking.
