Bubble Bobble 4 Friends Is Popping Onto PS4 This Winter With New Content
The charming retro revival Bubble Bobble 4 Friends is heading to PS4 this winter with new content. Switch owners were recently graced with 4 Friends, a retro revival of Taito's classic bubble popping series that added support for four-players. Featuring charming artwork and cute music, the game was fairly enjoyable by all accounts. Maybe it didn't reinvent the wheel, but does Bubble Bobble need to? If you were saddened by its seeming Switch exclusivity, you can finally let out a sigh of relief. Taito has announced that the co-op action title will be heading to PS4 by the end of 2020. To make up for the belated release, some additional content will be included with the game when it releases. some new stages and the return of Baron von Blubba, a ghost that forces players to keep moving) This extra stuff will come to the Switch version in a patch around the time of the PS4 port's release. THEGAMER VIDEO OF THE DAY Players will be able to purchase Bubble Bobble 4 Friends both physically and digitally. There's no word on price, but the . Physical editions of the European version go for $70 on Amazon. If you're excited about this PS4 release, Taito is currently running a contest to have your art featured in the end credits. You can read the , but all you'll need to do is draw some art and submit it for review. Ten winners will be chosen, have their work featured during the end credits, and will receive a free code for the PS4 version. As for any exclusive features, it would be nice to see the PS4 version come with online multiplayer. The current Switch release is plagued with a lack of online support, so players either need to be in the same room or go at it alone. It almost defeats the purpose of Bubble Bobble which was built around its cooperative element. Even if that doesn't happen, the PS4 features "Share Play" to simulate the couch co-op experience. That's some kind of consolation, even if it doesn't work particularly well. I guess having a ton of latency and input delay could simulate a broken arcade machine. Source:
