This was quite the emotional episode because everyone thought that this character was actually leaving the series for good; however, that is not what ended up happening. It ended up that it was a misunderstanding and he stayed in the region throughout the rest of the series. In spite of the emotional weight of the episode, a lot of fans completely missed this plot point within the anime since there are so many episodes. It's worth noting because it was one of the most emotional moments in the series for him, as previously mentioned.

He s A Programmer

A lot of fans know that this character is skilled with technology but they may not know that he can actually program things really well. He's shown within both the show and the games to be programming different things and fans that focus on him within the show can clearly see that he has a knack for it. Sophocles is so interesting and his programming skills just add to his personality and make him a much stronger character than a lot of the other ones within the Alola region.

His Cousin Picked Him As A Captain

A lot of fans may wonder how this young boy came to become a captain in the Alola region. The trainer became a captain because his cousin granted him the title before the events of the game. This is an interesting tidbit that a lot of people don't know about Sophocles that he actually got his captain status from one of his cousins. They must be really good friends if he's willing to pass over that much power to his cousin and that is really nice to see within the Pokémon franchise.

He s Terrified Of The Dark

Sophocles is actually terrified of the dark and will freak out when he is in it. It is unclear what the complete reason as to why this is, however, it is present within people of the real world. so this trait not too surprising. There was an episode in the TV series where he got over his fear briefly. However, in the next few episodes, he was back to his old self of being terrified of dark places.

He Built A Device To Lure In Powerful Totem Pokémon - The Ping Totem Pokémon 2 0

Within the game, Sophocles actually built a device that would bring totem Pokémon to him. This was a powerful device and any trainer that got their hands on it could catch a bunch of seriously strong Pokémon. It's worth noting this fact because a lot of players missed it or have forgotten about it since the Sun and Moon games came out so long ago but it is definitely one the most interesting tidbits out there about Sophocles.

He Only Has Pokémon That Are Electric-type

Lots of players know that Sophocles prefers Pokémon to any other type however what they may not know is that he only has electric Pokémon in both the anime and the video games, for the most part. Usually, trainers of a certain type will still have a few other typings under their belt. However, this character is the exception because other than secondary typing, all of his Pokémon are Electric-types. Even though he doesn't value diversity and typings much, he is still a powerful trainer and this doesn't stop him from having a strong team.

In The Games He Keeps All Of His Pokémon Stored In Ultra Balls

Ultra balls are powerful and it seems that Sophocles values them in comparison to other weaker Pokéballs within the franchise. Because of how powerful his Pokémon are, it is not surprising that this is the case, but fans were still surprised to see every single one of his creatures come out of an Ultra ball. Hopefully, more characters in the franchise in the future will have a certain Pokéball type preference because it makes them more interesting and unique.

He Analyzes Everything

Sophocles is depicted in the franchise as having a tendency to analyze everything he comes across from technology to situations. He seems to be quite good at this and understands the fundamentals of different topics, which is good for the nature of his character. This great fact about Sophocles isn't well known because it can easily go over fan's heads when other bigger plot points are present.

Sophocles Can Be Fought In The Alola League

In the Alola league, Sophocles is one of the characters that can be fought while the player is trying to defend their champion status and title. This is an interesting fact because a lot of players didn't rematch him in the league after beating the game. He will have stronger Pokémon than in the initial fight with the player and it is definitely worth trying to rematch him because it is a fun fight for sure!

Togedemaru Is His Only Weak Pokémon

Sophocles doesn't have a lot of weak Pokémon; most of them are extremely powerful and unique. However he does have one weak Pokémon it's this little mouse creature! It's unfortunate that his Pokémon partner has to be so weak and although it is shown pulling off powerful feats within the anime it really isn't that strong in terms of stats. Luckily this is only weak Pokémon he has and his others are extremely powerful creatures in the franchise that are both rare and strong.
