The Call of Duty League championship tournament will feature all 12 teams as they look to take home the trophy. Changes to the end-of-season championship format are coming for the as they as well as readjusting the prize pool. Along with the change to the championship format, the league announced drops will be coming soon and a bracket challenge as well as a discussion about map pools and competitive modes. The biggest announcement is the changes to the championship format. Now all 12 teams will have the opportunity to compete at the championship tournament at the end of the season. COVID-19 has thrown a wrench in most of their inaugural season as the teams have had to transition to online play. It also still gives the lower seeded teams the chance to prove themselves. THEGAMER VIDEO OF THE DAY It will be a double-elimination tournament with the standings acting as seeding for it. 1st and 2nd place teams are automatically seeded into the Round 3 Winner's Bracket. 3rd and 4th will be placed in the Round 2 Winner's Bracket while 5th, 6th and 7th begin in the Round 1 Winner's Bracket. The remaining 9-12th seeds will be placed in the opening round of the Elimination bracket. The prize pool has also been altered with the winning team earning $2,000,000 while the second-place finisher takes home $1,000,000. It continues to drop from there with the 11th and 12th place teams taking home a whopping total of $0. Drops will be coming to the Call of Duty League broadcast. The Overwatch League did this throughout the first two season which was a big incentive for viewers to watch the live matches. Watching CDL matches can earn viewers exclusive in-game rewards such as team emblems, sprays and animated calling cards. Viewers just need to watch matches on the CDL website or CoD Companion app while signed into their Activision account. An interactive bracket challenge should be coming to the Call of Duty League website soon which will allow for fans to engage with the community as well as showcase their bracket predictions. No details have been announced if their will be any incentives to participate, but more info should be coming soon. Finally, the league talked with teams and players about the competitive map pool and game modes for the second half of the season. A big point of discussion revolved around the fate of the game mode Domination.
