The Sims 4: Snowy Escape is due out in mid-November but thanks to a by Graham Nardone, aka SimGuruGraham, as well as early access footage, , and , we have a good overview of the pack's contents. Here we take a look at the main features of Snowy Escape and what Simmers can expect from the upcoming expansion. THEGAMER VIDEO OF THE DAY

Sims Can Enjoy Some Winter Sports

As you may assume from the title, Sims will be able to enjoy a range of new winter sports in Snowy Escape. Mt. Komorebi includes a bunny slope as well as three other slopes of varying difficulty which allow sims to ski, snowboard, and sled down them. There are also some challenging rocks to climb and hikes to enjoy. All these winter activities are rabbit hole free and you'll be able to follow your sims as they ski, hike, and have fun in the snow. Sledding is only available on the bunny slope but it's an activity that can be enjoyed by all ages from . Hiking is also a family-friendly activity and sims will socialize as they walk.

Mt Komorebi Has Some Unique Features

Mt. Komorebi is a in several ways. The first is that it's the only world that has shipped as a dual purpose location, featuring both rental and residential lots. While this is standard here, all players will be given the ability to add rental lots to existing residential worlds in the pre-expansion patch. However, you won't be able to add residential lots to vacation worlds. The world is also the only one to feature alternative weather as standard. While existing worlds are eternally sunny if players don't own Seasons, all the weather effects in Mt. Komorebi come with Snowy Escape. This includes the new weather conditions, Thundersnow Storms, and Icy Conditions, both of which affect Sims' behavior in the world.

Lifestyles And Sentiments Will Expand Your Sims Emotions

The new lifestyle feature is exclusive to the pack and allows Sims to receive impacts on their emotions relating to their lifestyle. A lifestyle will kick in when Sims frequently perform specific activities relating to it. Once activated it will affect different aspects of their personality. For instance, Adrenaline Seekers will not panic during fires and get bored during mundane interactions. Sentiments will be available to all but some will be exclusive to the expansion. It's a new feature that's difficult to truly grasp from demos but it appears to add things like grudges as well as emotional effects such as a Sim feeling sad when something bad happened to a family member.

There Are Some New Cultural Features

The pack is Japanese-inspired and with this comes several . Firstly, eating with chopsticks, first seen in City Living, has now been extended. Players can choose from either forks or a variety of chopsticks when deciding how their Sims will eat. There are also many cultural rules that can be implemented in homes and commercial venues using signs. The one most commonly seen is the sign that triggers sims to remove shoes and/or socks upon entering a home. However, there are also some other rules triggered by signs linked to the new Onsen venues. These include showering before using the hot springs.

The Create A Sim Items Span Modern And Traditional Dress

In create a sim you'll find several options for winter clothing but this is far from the only selection. It's combined with a range of both traditional and modern Japanese fashions, making the selection quite eclectic. Unlike some packs, the items span the majority of categories and age groups, especially when it comes to outdoor options. This will be especially important for those with who will need to make sure they have their outdoor clothing ready for any snowy adventures.

Everyone Will Get Platforms

Another new feature that will come with the pre-expansion free update is the new platform system. This enables players to build platforms both inside and out in a variety of different heights. They can be used as storage, stages and so much more. The is likely to be the closest to split level we'll get and will allow for some unique multi-level houses. No more foundation tricks!

There Are New Dangers And Deaths

The new world of Mt. Komorebi doesn't come without its dangers. Not only can climbing be fatal, especially in Thundersnow Storms or Icy Conditions, but even the vending machines can turn on you. Simmers will find a variety of new vending machines in the game, including hot and cold food, supplies, and new collectibles. Occasionally items will get trapped and have to be shaken free. If this happens too often franchise veterans will have Sims 2 flashbacks as the machine topples down onto your sim. Luckily the is actually easy to avoid, so this isn't another .

Sims Can Enjoy Woohoo In New Locations

As well as new dangers there are also new thrills, aside from those found on the slopes. Sims will be able to in the hot springs, although we're not sure how others will take it if you're in the Onsen! There is also a hidden ice cave that can provide a private place for adventurous sims. So far no other locations have been discovered but WooHoo spots and Deaths are often uncovered once the game is fully released, such as the in Eco Lifestyle, so we wait in hope.

The Build And Buy Items Are Extensive

If you've ever wanted to build with beautiful Japanese architecture, this is your opportunity. The items provided are extensive and cover a huge amount of basics. There is flooring, wallpaper for inside and out, windows, doors, and a huge amount of traditional furniture. You'll also find staples such as beds, sofas, tables, chairs, and even a brand new kitchen that is hugely versatile and the first to contain shelves with clutter slots.

All The Lots In Mt Komorebi Are Built By Game Changers

Another first for the franchise is that all the lots in Mt. Komorebi are built by EA Game Changers, who built three lots each. James Turner, Deligracy, Lil Simsie, and Simlicy have all built the lots that will ship with the game, meaning the quality is hugely improved. While none are as complex as these Simmers' regular builds, due to the restrictions in place to ensure decent performance on lower spec machines, they are all far more practical and detailed compared to the lots we usually get. As a of Sims builders building the lots, this is exciting news.
