Codemasters Latest Arcade Racer DiRT 5 Is Coming Soon
After 2017's DiRT 4 failed to hit the mark with the audience, the brand new trailer seems to be bringing back the series to its proper arcade roots. Microsoft's recently hosted Xbox 20/20 - a gameplay livestream that showed us what exactly we can expect when the console drops later this year. The stream was kicked off with the latest racing game from UK studio Codemasters, and the latest in the long-running series of off-road arcade riots, DiRT 5. via Xbox After 2017's DiRT 4 failed to hit the mark with the audience, the brand new trailer seems to be bringing back the series to its proper arcade roots - established with the likes of DiRT 2 and 3. via PCGamesN seemed to feature several different kinds of vehicles racing through and ravaging a variety of different terrains. There were various distinct locales shown off, from a frozen lake and a forest, all the way to a rural area, the latter of which being set in the dark of night. These vehicles were also racing around in varying weather conditions, from pretty sunsets to below-the-zero snowstorms. THEGAMER VIDEO OF THE DAY As well as that, the trailer also showcased what we can expect to get behind the wheel of later this year, including cars that we haven't seen before in this series, like a '60 Ford Mustang, or an Aston Martin V12 Vantage with rally tires and auxilary lights. I can't imagine that being particularly cheap to do in real life. If anything, this new trailer also showcased the powerhouse that is the Xbox Series X, as this easily seems to me like the best-looking DiRT game ever, even slightly better than last year's GRID, also developed by Codemasters. Everything just seems to pop, and as a whole it's very visually impressive. via Windows Central Considering that this is a DiRT game, meaning it's not an Xbox exclusive, it's safe to assume that it'll be launching on the PS5 and on PC as well. Something that this new chapter in the iconic off-road franchise brings back is a story-driven career mode, with voice acting legend Troy Baker apparently voicing one of the main characters. The website also touts the huge variety of vehicles that we'll be able to drive, as well as new creative features like a full-fledged photo mode, and, for the first time ever in a DiRT game, a livery editor that can be used for all vehicles in the game. Not to mention also, local split-screen multiplayer, as well as Career co-op capabilities. I don't know about you, but being a huge fan of racing games in general and this iconic series, I'm definitely excited to get my hands on it. DiRT 5 races onto the Xbox Series X, PC and PS5 in October of 2020.
