Resident Evil 2 is a fantastic game in its own right, but when these modders got their hands on it, they turned the title into a hilarious experience. In the past few years, Capcom has embraced the PC scene when it comes to releasing its modern titles. Other Japanese companies are also getting better at this, like Square Enix and Sega. Not only does this allow a huge player base to take part in modern hits, but it opens the doors for mods. Mods sadly have yet to venture onto consoles in a proper fashion which easily makes the PC a better platform in some ways. First-Person Evil

Praydog created this mod, which as the title and pictures should suggest, adds first-person support to the remake. When was announced as a first-person game, there was a little bit of an uproar from fans. How could this series work this way. Well, it was an adjustment but was just as intuitive as the previous camera angles so it should come as no surprise then that this mod works well too. It may not sound intrinsically funny, but it does have its moments.

Tofu Zombies

Snipzu created this mod, which adds the lovable and weird Tofu models from the game in place of the more grotesque zombies. In some ways it is even creepier to see these white sticks hobble towards Leon or Claire. It’s kind of one of those unsettling things from a seemingly normal aspect of like like how tomatoes killed people in Attack of the Killer Tomatoes. It is downright funny as well.

Cel-Shading Of The Dead

Cla created this mod, which adds a cel-shade effect to the graphics. Like the first-person mod, one not may see this as funny right away. Because the Resident Evil 2 remake didn’t natively support this resolution, it creates an uneasy balance between looking natural and looking like some kind of nightmare. This is most apparent with some of the lesser seen characters, which can create one I those nervous laughs.

Thomas The Tank X

ZombieAli created this mod, which turns Mr. X into Thomas the Tank Engine. Not only that but it adds his theme song too when he approaches. Oh sure this is wildly funny to see in videos, but play the remake with this mod applied and one will never look at this lovable tank engine that could again. Goodbye childhood, hello to never sleeping again in a fit of nightmares.

Jotaru Vs Dio

ZombieAli also created this mod, which is funny in its own right and doesn’t add any sort of creep factor to the mix. This is basically a reskin for Leon transforming him into Jotaru from the third iteration of JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure. It also changes Mr. X into his family nemesis, Dio. Capcom has made games in this series before so they should look to this mod and create a Resident Evil style game based on the anime. This mod proves it can work to a hilarious effect.

HD In 1998

ZombieAli started the project, but got others to join as well including Jtegh And Crazy Potato. It is an ongoing mod project to turn all of the models into low polygonal ones more in line with the PS1 originals. It’s hard not to laugh when seeing these low resolution models move around in gorgeously rendered backgrounds on the PC. The juxtaposition alone is worth checking this project out.

Mr Squeaky

Jewelson created this mod, which turns Mr. X’s giant booming footsteps into squeakers. One may think this is cute and or not disturbing but in some ways it might be even worse. It’s like that episode of SpongeBob SquarePants called “Squeaky Boots” wherein Mr. Krabs is haunted by the squeaking of SpongeBob’s new boots. So yes, this mod can be unsettling but it should make one laugh too.

Zombies Huh

SirLumberjackie created this mod, which turns Leon into Venom Snake from Metal Gear Solid V. To make this combo better one should implement the mod that George made over on the which turns Claire into Quiet. Granted most of the game they are separate so the duo won’t be constantly together. Still, it is a funny set of mods to be sure and also gets one thinking about Snake really fighting off zombies.

Pennywise X

Marcos RC created this mod for his wherein he makes tons of mods for supporters. This one in particular is another creepy but funny example of a mod that turns Mr. X into someone else. In this case it’s Pennywise from the somewhat recent IT reboot. Now that is a property that would make for an interesting video game in a Resident Evil styled experience.

Mr DMX

DJ Pop created this mod and put it up on the . Without a doubt it is the funniest, and in many ways the most obvious mod one could do to Mr. X in the Resident Evil 2 remake. Mr. X is unchanged but when he approaches DMX’s "X Gon' Give It To Ya" starts to play. Prepare to die a lot because this mod will have one drop their controllers in fits of laughter. It is too perfect for words.
