10 PlayStation Characters Reimagined As Pokémon Trainers Fan Art

Ever wonder what your favorite PlayStation characters would look like as Pokémon trainers? These artists did! Fanart is a truly amazing medium -- created with the passion and love of people who love their fandoms. Sometimes, the work of someone that was simply contracted to create some art can feel as though much less heart was put into it, especially if they have no special connection to the source material. The other great aspect of fanart is we get to see worlds that would otherwise stay separated collide with one another. In this case, fans decided to combine the many characters of franchises with the highly popular franchise. Here are ten PlayStation characters reimagined as Pokémon trainers through fanart. THEGAMER VIDEO OF THE DAY

Coco & Raichu

For quite some time, Crash Bandicoot and Spyro the Dragon served as the two faces of the PlayStation catalog of games. The heroes, Crash in particular, quickly became synonymous with the Sony-developed video game system. didn't choose to use the titular character of the Crash Bandicoot franchise in her work of art. Instead, she decided to go with Crash's girlfriend, Coco. In much the same way, ChelseaKittyGirl didn't choose the face of the franchise, Pikachu, either. Rather, she chose to use the evolution of Pikachu, Raichu.

Spyro s In Charge

One of the truly odd aspects of seeing Spyro as a Pokémon character is that the small dragon looks like he could be a Pokémon himself. Artist , known for his Spyro artwork, decided to interpret the character as a trainer rather than another one of the pocket monsters. Another very fun aspect of this piece is the Pokémon that SpyroUp decided to include. Instead of sticking with the classic generation one starters Charmander, Squirtle, and Bulbasaur, SpyroUp chose different starters from each of the first three generations of Pokémon.

Sackboy With Ditto

Another Playstation character you would never expect to be a Pokémon trainer would have to be Sackboy. Much like Spyro, Sackboy looks like much more of a Pokémon himself rather than someone who is in command of the little creatures. decided to match up Sackboy with the Pokémon Ditto. Both of these characters are very small, cute creatures that everyone can't help but love. Seeing them side by side is quite the treat.

Electric Poké-Love

In the last few decades, one of the most popular Playstation franchises has been Infamous. The main character of the first two games of the series, Cole McGrath, is an extremely powerful, electricity manipulating superhero. Another fan artist, , decided to match up McGrath with a Pokémon companion. Who better to accompany the electricity-manipulating hero than everyone's favorite electric-type Pokémon, Pikachu?

Mew s Gift For Sly

Another classic Sony video game character is Sly Cooper. The mysterious Raccoon/thief has long been a representative of Playstation's large catalog of great original content. Given the more grounded, street-level nature of the character, it is an interesting choice to pair him up with one of the most powerful Pokémon in Mew. Artist plays with this dichotomy beautifully.

The New Clank

Another classic Playstation franchise is Ratchet and Clank. Another great fan artist named decided to swap Ratchet's titular sidekick and replace him with a similar-looking Pokémon. Replacing Clank is none other than Magnemite, an electric-type Pokémon made up of screws and magnets. This adorable pairing almost makes too much sense. Hopefully, Clank doesn't get ahold of this picture; he might get jealous!

Spyro With His Dragon-Types

What really makes 's art stand out is that it looks as though it was pulled straight out of a Spyro video game from back on the original PlayStation. Circled around the popular purple dragon is an assortment of dragon-type Pokémon from various different installments to the franchise. Seeing all of these characters drawn in the original Spyro trilogy level of animation makes us wish that someone makes some mods for the decades-old games in order to make this a reality. Either that, or turn Spyro into a Pokémon himself that can be used in future Pokémon games. Neither of those things is going to happen, but it sure would be awesome.

Mega Kratos

You can't have a list of the best PlayStation characters without including Kratos from the God of War series. In much the same way, you can't have a good list of without including Charizard. This piece by gives us one better; it includes Mega Charizard X. If Kratos were to command his own Charizard, the mighty Greek warrior wouldn't settle for merely a normal Charizard. This picture shows that the fearsome nature of both characters would help them become an amazing team.

Sully s New Smoking Buddy

Best friend and mentor to Nathan Drake in PlayStation's Uncharted series, Sully is a lovable old codger with more adventure left in the tank than his old age might suggest. In this picture, it appears that Sully has found a new partner that might give Nathan a run for his money. An artist known as created this piece that brilliantly blended the two characters together. It is a no brainer that Charmander's fire abilities would be used to light Sully's cigarettes if this fantastical meeting were to ever actually happen. A man like Sully could definitely use a pet companion as he begins to navigate his retirement.

Nathan s New Partner

Sully isn't the only Uncharted character to get his very own little Pokémon partner. Fan artist also depicted the franchises lead with his very own Bulbasaur. Throughout the Uncharted series of games, Nathan has found himself traversing many different mysterious jungles. Often times, he's in need of vines to either climb or swing from in order to advance in the game. If Nathan were to become the trainer for a Bulbasaur Pokémon, he could have the little pocket monster create new vines for him to use in the world. They really would make for the perfect duo.
