Getting Started
The hardest part of treasure hunting in this game is getting started. The reason for this is that the player can only acquire the first Map which can happen at any time but will always occur near Walton’s hideout in the desert. The player will come across a Treasure Hunter named Chu Fook getting attacked by bandits. After either saving him or searching his body the player will get the first Treasure Map.
First Map
The first map sends the player to the Hanging Rock north of Armadillo. The treasure will be located on the backside of the Rock. It’s pretty easy to find and many players may accidentally stumble across it before they get the Map preventing them from obtaining it. The treasure is Brigadier General Sherman M Rhodes’ Gold and it’s worth $100. The player will also find Treasure Map 2.
Second Map
This map sends the player to the Del Lobo Rock on the Rio Del Lobo. The treasure is tucked behind a the Rock in a gap in the ridge running along the river. The best way to reach it is to have a stage coach drop the player off on the Mexican side of the river and then walk the rest of the way. The treasure is Gold belonging to Brigadier General Ambrose Jackson Hood and sells for $125. Treasure Map 3 will also be found here.
Third Map
This is one of the easier Treasures to find as it’s in . It’s under a cluster of stones beneath a cow skull. Unfortunately the player will have to either fight or sneak around several gang members. This contains Gold that belongs to Brigadier General Andrew John Calhoun and sells for $150. Treasure Map 4 is also here.
Fourth Map
This is under a tree on the Rio Del Toro north of Chuparosa. The tree players will be looking for is decorated with cattle skulls. The player will need to complete the quest We Shall Be Together In Paradise to be able to travel across the river via Irish. The reward here jumps in value as Brigadier General Jefferson T. Tubman’s Gold is worth $263. Treasure Map 5 is found here. The player will also reach Treasure Hunter Rank 5 which grants the use of stagecoaches for free, a very nice perk.
Fifth Map
This one is in Crooked Toes at the top of the tallest of the rock ‘Toes’. The player will need to fight some enemies as part of The River quest. This contains Major General Robert Clay Brown’s Gold which is worth $300. Treasure Map 6 is also here.
Sixth Map
South of Chuparosa is the Ojo del Diablo. Under this giant stone arch is the sixth treasure the player must find. The Gold belonging to Major General Thaddeus E. Douglass is worth $338. Treasure Map 7 is here to keep the challenge going.
Seventh Map
North easy of Agave Viejo is Roca de Madera. While standing on the largest rock the player can look southwest and see a road leading up a cliff. At the end of that path on the cliff is the treasure. Lieutenant General John J Garrison’s Gold is worth a nice $450. Treasure Map 8 will also be tucked in with the Gold.
Eighth Map
This Map takes the player to a broken tree east of Beecher’s Hope. In can be a bit tricky to find until the player encounters the old stone wall underneath the tree. The treasure is located in the wall’s opening. It’s worth noting the player must to access Great Plains or else this area will be locked off. The reward is Gold belonging to Lieutenant General Jeb Pickett worth an incredible $600. This will also contain the final Treasure Map 9.
Last Map
The last treasure is north-west of the Manzanita Post. There’s a path leading to Nekoti Rock, at the end of that path is a bear cave. This is where player’s can find for the Master Hunter challenge and is quite the fight. The treasure contains General Robert A. Stonewall’s Gold worth a cool $750. The player will also obtain the Treasure Hunter’s Satchel which allows the player to carry twice the normal amount of consumables.
Final Tips
As the player starts gathering the Gold Bullions it’s tempting to sell them at the nearest merchant and get the cash early. What players need to know is that if they take the time to they can sell the Gold for its full price. So not only will players receive free stagecoaches for life, a satchel that doubles consumable carrying capacity, and the title of Legendary Treasure hunter.
