10 Regular Pokémon That Are Stronger Than Mythicals

You might expect Mythical Pokémon to be the best of the best, but these regular Pokémon are actually stronger. The franchise has been popular since its debut, but it’s been interesting to watch how the series has grown over time and the different directions that it’s headed in. The property has greatly expanded into something far beyond the mainline video games, but something that’s never changed is the game’s passion towards the Pokémon themselves and the new additions that come into each new entry in the series. There are plenty of out there and even though players can sometimes prioritize and legendary Pokémon over the run of the mill entries, it’s important to realize that sometimes these standard Pokémon are even better than the rarities in the series. THEGAMER VIDEO OF THE DAY

Greninja

is a rare combination of water- and dark-types, allowing this Pokémon to be incredibly resilient and typically able to defeat most Pokémon in merely two attacks. There’s a lot of strength contained in this Pokémon and even the character’s frog-like design gives him a powerful appearance that’s emblematic of the high speed that also accompanies the fighter. Greninja can be even more unstoppable through the use of its hidden ability, Protean, which is an easy way to break any opponent’s strategy and compensate for any type-based weaknesses.

Lucario

Lucario is a powerhouse of a Pokémon that's a strong pairing of fighting- and steel-types, but the Pokémon really leans into the fighting angle. He's such a powerful fighter that he's even turned up in titles like Super Smash Bros. and He has high attack and special stats, and he has some truly powerful abilities like Dragon Pulse and Flash Cannon. His mega evolution also makes him even more of a threat and gives him a bigger boost than some other Pokémon receive. The anime makes Lucario even more powerful by giving him telepathic abilities.

Blaziken

Blaziken is another strong Pokémon that gets a lot of attention and resonates with audiences because it's the final evolutionary form of Torchic, one of the from Generation III. All fire-type Pokémon have a high capacity for carnage, but Blaziken is also a fighting-type and it makes for a particularly lethal combination. Blaziken has a fantastic moveset that already gives him the advantage in most battles, but after the use of hidden ability, Speed Boost, the Pokémon reaches a whole other level that most mythical or legendaries can't defend against.

Hydreigon

When it comes to intimidating combinations of Pokémon types, there are not many that are scarier than a mix of dark- and dragon-types. Hydreigon isn't just incredibly powerful when it comes to its high stats and strong moveset. On top of everything else the Pokémon’s design is just incredibly awesome. Hydreigon is a three-headed dragon, which is an edge that none of the mythicals or benefit from and makes it seem even more important than just a regular Pokémon. Its weakness against fairy-types is its only downfall.

Metagross

Metagross is a Pokémon that sometimes can get overlooked, but the great thing about this Pokémon is that it can be a serious threat even for players that don’t invest a lot of time into the Pokémon. It’s that naturally powerful. Metagross is a and psychic-type and it benefits from exceptional attack and defense stats, while other areas like speed and special attack and defense are also all very strong. Abilities like Meter Mash, Earthquake, and Explosion are all easy ways to reach a victory and it doesn't hurt that the Pokémon’s design is on the more aggressive side.

Charizard

has always been one of the more popular Pokémon ever since the original games. It helps that he's an evolution of one of the first starter Pokémon and players can form a real connection with the Pokémon. Charizard carries an intimidating presence due to his dinosaur-like demeanor. He packs a lot of strength, but the fact that he can also fly and breathe fire gives him serious advantages over others of his ilk. He's a Pokémon that’s well-equipped for battle and exudes a level of confidence that’s absent in many mythicals or legendaries.

Tyranitar

Many of the Pokémon from the era get overlooked, and it's not looked at as the most creative period for the series. But there are still lots of memorable Pokémon that came out of these games. Tyranitar looks like an absolute beast and even his Pokédex entry brags of how his strength has changed the landscape. Tyranitar's speed isn't great, but the Pokémon makes up for it with incredibly high defense, leaving him able to wear out most mythical or legendary picks.

Garchomp

Garchomp is a dragon- and ground-type that has high stats and the ability to develop a powerful moveset. The real strategy with Garchomp is that he can learn Swords Dance, which allows his impressive attack to double. At that point it’s pretty unbeatable, other than its weakness against ice-types. On top of everything else, the design for Garchomp is actually terrifying. It's like a mix between Xenomorph and The Shape of Water's Fishman, with a hint of Jaws thrown it. Garchomp does not mess around.

Salamence

Salamence is a dragon- and flying-type Pokémon from Generation III that resembles a mythical Pokémon in every regard. Salamence is an angry, mysterious dragon that honestly looks like something could evolve into. In this sense, it’s easy to confuse Salamence with a mythical or legendary, but that just speaks to its strong appearance. Salamence is a Pokémon that's at the top end of dragon-types and when turned into a Mega Salamence that are few Pokémon that can take it down.

Dragonite

is another Pokémon from the original titles that is just a standard creature, but it's been able to build a real legacy for itself. Dragonite can be very docile in nature, but the Pokémon can truly defend itself when it's necessary. The Pokémon’s status as a dragon guarantees that it's on the stronger side and it has the right moveset to fall back on. Even though Dragonite isn't technically a mythical Pokémon, the anime series has still portrayed it with an air of importance and mystery.
