Geralt may be one of the more powerful characters in The Witcher, but he's lost his fair share of fights (and could lose even more)! Despite being painted as the poster boy of the whole Witcher franchise, is by no means the most powerful character in his world. In fact, he wasn't even the most powerful one in any book, video game, or . Lots of other men and women outrank Geralt when it comes to combat capabilities. As such, many individuals have defeated and video games. This does prove once and for all just how vulnerable Geralt can be and how much of an underdog he really is compared to the actual heavy hitters in his franchise. DEFEATED HIM VILGEFORTZ

Turns out Geralt is not exactly the best swordsman nor the best combatant in The Witcher saga. That title initially belonged to Vilgefortz of Roggeveen. He wasn't in the games since a combined force of Geralt, Regis, and Yennefer killed him for good. However, when Geralt and Vilgefortz finally found a moment to fight one-on-one, he wiped the floor with Geralt, using his silver mane as a mop. Vilgefortz left Geralt crippled in their fight but ultimately spared the lucky witcher.

CAN DEFEAT HIM CIRI

Ciri is by far the most powerful being in The Witcher universe and not many villains can come close to what she's capable of, particularly her video game version. She's not exactly a mutated witcher but her time and space manipulation powers are more than enough to put her in an even ground against Geralt. That's assuming there would be an instance where they have to fight. Thankfully, they're on the same side or Geralt would have tons of problems dealing with . Even her book version could likely just scream Geralt to death.

DEFEATED HIM LETHO OF GULLET

Geralt doesn't get an opportunity to fight with his witcher colleagues but in the one rare chance that he does, he gets a humiliating defeat. That was under the hands of Letho of Gullet back in The Witcher 2. In their first official fight in the elven fountain near Flotsam, Letho , utilizing Quen and Ard as well as witcher mutations to defeat him with ease. It wasn't even a close match, Letho looked like he barely broke a sweat. Thankfully, Letho owes Geralt from way back and chose to spare him.

CAN DEFEAT HIM EMIEL REGIS

One of the characters who were instrumental in Vilgefortz's defeat, Emiel Regis got the brunt of that fight. He was reduced to a blood smear but since only High Vampires can kill one another, he managed to live and carry on in The Witcher 3. Now, with an in-game rule like that, it's safe to assume that Geralt would be no match against someone like Regis. He can out skill him with the blade all he wants, Regis will just keep coming back. Luckily for Geralt, he doesn't have to do this since they're allies.

DEFEATED HIM A FEMALE GUARD CAPTAIN

Similar to how a samurai is nothing without his sword, Geralt is also a sitting duck unarmed. This much is already apparent in boxing matches in The Witcher 3. It was also the same case was beaten to a pulp by a nameless soldier. In the latest Witcher book, Season of Storms, Geralt got into a fight with a large female guard-captain and her four other colleagues. Sure, it was five-to-one, but , the odds were about even. They handed Geralt his butt on a platter.

CAN DEFEAT HIM GAUNTER O DIMM

Yes, Geralt did defeat Gaunter O'Dimm but that wasn't exactly combat or a conventional fight. It was more like a casual chess match for Gaunter O'Dimm. If the two were to fight to the death, it's safe to say Geralt has no chance of winning at all. Gaunter is one of the few individuals in The Witcher games that might be on the same level as Ciri-- if not higher. All he has to do to erase Geralt from existence is stop time and shove a spoon into his eye. Assuming he's serious.

DEFEATED HIM RIENCE

With how many magic users able to defeat Geralt, it's easy to pattern his weakness in combat. Another mage that came close to killing him is Rience. Rience is Vilgefortz's lackey mage who was tasked with finding Ciri. Because of this, he quickly ran into Geralt and the encounter turned quite deadly for the witcher. Rience, along with four professionally-trained assassins, managed to mortally wound Geralt and the witcher would have died if not for Shani and Philippa Eilhart's help.

CAN DEFEAT HIM PHILIPPA EILHART

Speaking of Philippa Eilhart, she's the most powerful sorceress in the books and even in the games, despite her blindness there. Philippa Eilhart is the head of the Lodge of Sorceresses and for that to happen, she would have to be the wisest, most clever, and most successful sorceress in the group. That very well means Philippa Eilhart can easily make quick work of a rather blunt witcher whose only strategy in battle is to rush in blades swinging. All Philippa has to do is get creative with Portals.

DEFEATED HIM SOME RACIST BOY WITH A PITCHFORK

Too many people have tried to kill Geralt in the books and video games and none of them succeeded no matter how powerful they were. Turns out, one doesn't need power at all to kill Geralt-- a pitchfork and a deceptively innocent facade will do. That pitchfork belonged to a racist peasant boy in Rivia's pogrom that took place in the Lady of the Lake book. Geralt was poised to slice the kid in half but hesitated after seeing the boy's scared eyes. Then Geralt got stabbed shortly after and died at the hands of the weakest enemy he's ever faced.

CAN DEFEAT HIM YENNEFER

Well, Yennefer just had to be here. She has already defeated Geralt in many non-combat ways not limited to henpecking. There's also reason to believe that Geralt can never hurt Yennefer physically or in a serious fight. Moreover, Yennefer is pretty much a second only to Philippa Eilhart. She can easily toy around with Geralt magically-- even throw Geralt down a lake out of anger. Besides, everyone knows at this point that sorceresses make Geralt weak in the knees.
