Yes The Original Voice Of Cooking Mama Is In The Latest Game
This has become yet another notch on the belt of growing (and mostly baseless) accusations surrounding the title. We're still in the midst of weirdness about the latest game. Cookstar still isn't on the eShop, Office Create still hasn't said anything, and the prices on physical copies still haven't gone down. Meanwhile, devs continue to report harassment on Twitter, and wild conspiracy theories about the games keep spinning out of control. One of these rumors swirls around the titular Cooking Mama herself. Various commenters across the web have leveraged accusations against Cookstar, claiming that the voice actress behind the Mama isn't the original. This has become yet another notch on the belt of growing (and mostly baseless) accusations surrounding the title. THEGAMER VIDEO OF THE DAY Let me, then, put this one to rest. Not only have I completed the game and read through the credits (a great way to find info on who worked on a game, by the way,) but I can independently confirm that Yoko Nishino returned to the studio to reprise her role. Yes, this means that the original Mama read lines like, "that was epic," "flex for the Gram," and "pics or it didn't happen." That's all kinds of wonderful, if you ask me. She's like a real mom trying to relate to her kids! Love it. As for those wondering why Nishino sounds a bit different, it's been a long time since her initial voices were recorded. I've played most of the games in this series, and can personally attest to some of that older audio being reused as recently as the 3DS incarnations. The lines in Cookstar are all new, and so it stands to reason that Nishino's voice has changed a bit. After all, she was 24 at the time of those initial sessions fifteen years ago. So while the drama around Cookstar still persists, allow us to put this rumor to rest. The original Mama is in her latest exploit, and personally, I love all her new voice work. Look forward to our review soon!
