Pokémon 10 Hilarious Memes About Gyms That Prove The Games Make No Sense

There's plenty of weird things about gyms that people don't bring up. These memes capture that ridiculousness perfectly. Every gamer knows that to become a Master a trainer must beat all 8 Gyms to earn their right to challenge the Elite 4. But players are never told about how weak trainers become Gym Leaders, or who pays them, or why their Gyms need to be so hard to traverse. Some Pokémon Gyms have inside, which are there to make trainers put a lot more effort into earning their badges. Many of these puzzles defy logic and are straight out dangerous, which is really weird considering that many of these Gyms will be visited by 10-year-old kids. THEGAMER VIDEO OF THE DAY

The Most Humiliating Gym

The is home to one of the weirdest puzzles in the Pokémon games, as trainers must look for buttons at the bottom of trash cans to open the room where the Gym Leader is waiting. What was even thinking? Sending trainers to sweep through his trash to find switches doesn't sound like a good training method, it sounds like he just needs people to sort out his trash.

The Floor Is Lava Literally

Blackthorn Gym is perhaps, the most dangerous Gym to ever exist. It’s filled with lava, and players must find ways of traversing through it if they want to face its Leader. In a , trainers would suffocate in seconds as the Gym would be so hot that it’d be literally impossible to breathe or live long enough to reach the Gym Leader. Seriously, why do they have the need to make their Gyms as dangerous as possible?

That s Cheating

Battling a Gym Leader is some sort of meaningful experience, as according to the Pokémon lore, they’re there to teach trainers how to become better and help them grow into competent Pokémon Masters. It kind of breaks the immersion when a Gym Leader cheats at battles using items, especially when they use something like a Full Restore on their strongest Pokémon. Sure, some trainers do the same, but they’re not trained professionals!

Screw Logic Get Badges

Pokémon Gyms offer challenges that go beyond simple battles, as they house some sort of puzzle that trainers must solve before facing their Gym Leader. This is done to make things more interesting as it’d be boring to enter Gyms and just do Pokémon Battles. The thing is, that some of the challenges inside Gyms are so large that it contrasts with on the outside. Maybe the building we see on the outside is just an entrance to an underground complex?

You Again

One of the best things about Pokémon Gyms is that they let you in to challenge their Leader again as soon as you step out of the Pokémon Center. To a Gym Leader, it doesn’t matter how hard they beat you, only how much you’ve grown since your last Pokémon battle. Imagine how painful it’d be to have to wait some days before challenging a Gym Leader again, especially when you can just or catch a new one to raise your odds at winning.

Gym Leaders Should Train More

Gym Leaders are supposed to be “Pokémon Specialist” who trained and studied a lot to teach others about Pokémon. But it’s kind of odd how they can be beaten by anyone who just happens to have started their journey a mere hours ago. Maybe they have to use weaker Pokémon instead of their favorite ones? It’d be pointless to have Pokémon Gyms where Leaders used their strongest Pokémon against rookie trainers, because how else are they going to get their badges?

Gym Closed Due To Plot Reasons

Seeing that Pokémon Gyms are a very important part of a trainer’s journey, one might think that they should stay open as much as they can. But as you probably know, there are a few Gyms that are closed when you first get to them and won’t open until you’ve progressed enough in the game’s story. Thankfully, Pokémon Gyms only close due to plot reasons as it’d be tedious if they had to close due to more mundane reasons, like of their own or following a work schedule.

Why Warps Aren t Used To Travel

Have you ever wondered how advanced is the Pokémon world? Not only humans have access to powerful balls capable of catching extremely powerful Pokémon, but also technology able of converting physical objects into computer data. Humans in the Pokémon world are also able to make and teleporters capable of moving people from one place to another. It’s odd how they always use it to create Gym puzzles and never to transport people from one city to another.

Just Falling Through

Sootopolis Gym has one of the most difficult Gym puzzles found in a Pokémon game, as you must enter into a small room and then step into every tile once to be able to advance, it even feels like a mini-game due to how interesting this mechanic is. But the thing that makes this so weird is the fact that you’ll break a tile if you step on it twice, which will make you fall from a very considerable height. Players should be thankful that there isn’t fall damage in the Pokémon games as the fall is at least 2 stories high.

Aren t Geysers Hot

Lavaridge Gym might be one of the most dangerous Gyms ever, as trainers need to step on top of geysers to be able to reach hidden rooms. Stepping on geysers sounds fun, but they’re dangerously hot. To give you an idea about how hot a geyser can be, Yellowstone's geysers have an average temperature of about 204 °F (95.5 °C), which is hot enough to cause 3rd degree burns on contact.
