If there's one thing the world needs right now, it's random gifts that arrive via balloon. I think we could all do with a bit of universal kindness. And although the physics of getting a gift to float via a helium-filled balloon is questionable, getting a balloon gift in can be the best feeling in the world. So how do you get at those sweet floating boxes? You shoot 'em down with a slingshot. The slingshot can be acquired fairly early on thank's to Timmy's Tent Store, or you can get it as a DIY recipe soon after taking Tom Nook's DIY class. After that, it’s just a matter of having your slingshot on you at all times. THEGAMER VIDEO OF THE DAY Gift balloon spawns are completely random in New Horizons, so it’s better to just go about your business while paying attention to the sounds you hear in-game. If you hear the sound of blowing wind, that means there’s a balloon nearby. The louder the sound, the closer the balloon. Use your right analog stick to angle the camera upward to see where that pesky balloon is hiding, then run over and equip your slingshot. Press A to pop the balloon and receive your gift. Also, don’t pop the balloon over water, otherwise this happens. Ah, but what’s inside the balloon gift? That depends on the color of the balloon. Gifts are generally one of four different categories: Bells, materials, furniture and clothes, or DIY recipes. Yellow balloons typically contain Bells as rewards, while blue balloons are often carrying crafting materials. Green and red balloons usually carry the rarest rewards of clothes, furniture, and recipes, but all balloons have a chance to contain all sorts of rewards. It's just that certain colors have slightly higher chances of certain things. There's also the special balloons. You can tell them apart since the balloon is dressed up like an Easter egg. Those balloons will contain Bunny Day-themed items and recipes which will require Bunny Day eggs to craft.
