Green one-mana spells can be deceptively threatening in the earliest turns of a Magic: The Gathering game. These are the best ones! The color green in Magic: the Gathering is often associated with massive and devastating creatures. This is largely in part to green being the color of mana associated with the concepts of nature and growth. Despite what many may initially perceive about green's large size and late-game potential, Green has access to numerous incredible spells that only cost a single mana! Ranging from mana-ramp options to economical creatures, green can be deceptively threatening in the earliest turns of a game. Glistener Elf

Simplistic yet incredibly powerful, anyone whose played against an infect deck has likely had a run in with a Glistener Elf. A 1/1 elf with infect for one mana, a turn one Glistener Elf is often an ideal start for a deck seeking to win through the use of poison counters. While Glistener Elf is only a 1/1, it deals damage in the form of poison counters greatly heightening its potency. When paired with pump spells such as Mutagenic Growth or Giant Growth, it's not uncommon for Glistener Elf to take out an opponent by turn three or four!

Helix Pinnacle

The Commander format is one brimming with alternative win conditions that allow players to defeat opponents without reducing their life totals. Originally printed in Tempest, Mirri s Guile is a enchantment for one mana that allows its controller to look and reorganize the top three cards of their library at the beginning of each upkeep. This means that this enchantment's controller can effectively stack their deck and ensure that they'll draw the cards they desire when they're needed.

Noble Hierarch

When it comes to creatures capable of tapping for mana, Noble Hierarch is one of the most multifarious creatures around. Seeing a great deal of play in Modern, Noble Hierarch cannot only tap for green mana like cards like Elvish Mystic, but it can also tap for white and blue mana. Additionally, Noble Hierarch possesses the Exalted ability, providing a creature with +1/+1 as long as it attacks alone! This means that Noble Hierarch can simultaneously help a player cast larger spells while helping to buff creatures when taking the offensive!

Berserk

Birds of Paradise

Birds of Paradise by Marcelo Vignali Birds of Paradise is perhaps one of the most iconic creatures in all of Magic. Dating all the way back to Magic's first set, Birds of Paradise set the bar for mana producing creatures from the very beginning. For a single mana, Birds of Paradise is a 0/1 with flying that is capable of tapping for any color of mana. This means this creature can accelerate any deck's strategy and be a worthy addition as long as that deck includes green!

Allosaurus Shepard

Recently printed in Jump Start, Allosaurus Shepard is an incredible late-game payoff card for decks. While Allosaurus Shepard's stats are nothing to write home about, being a 1/1 for one, it totes an ability that for six mana, can alter each elf creatures under its owners control to have a base power and toughness of 5/5. As if this wasn't excellent in its own right, Allosaurus Shepard can protect its controller from pesky blue players by preventing all green spells cast by its controller from being countered.

Burgeoning

Burgeoning is an immensely popular one-mana that sees a great deal of play in Commander. Burgeoning's ability dictates that whenever an opponent plays a , Burgeoning's controller can play one from their hand as well. As Commander is a multiplayer format, this means that lands controlled by opponents will be entering the battlefield at a much higher rate, Burgeoning's controller can quickly flood their battlefield with land.

Exploration

Like Burgeoning, Exploration is a single mana enchantment that allows its controller to play lands at a quicker rate than normal. However, unlike Burgeoning which is reliant on opponents, Exploration simply allows its controller to play an additional land on each of their turns. This means that as long as a player is reliably drawing into additional lands, they can provide themselves with superior amounts of resources and out-value their opponents!

Fastbond

Banned in both Legacy and Commander, Fastbond is a stellar enchantment that combines the best elements of Burgeoning and Exploration. An enchantment for a single green mana, Fastbond allows its controller to play any amount of lands each turn. While it comes along with the drawback of dealing one damage to its controller whenever they play a besides their first of each turn, the value this card supplies far exceeds the negative. When using Fastbond, a player could play numerous lands on their very first turn and cast a threatening creature before an opponent had played their first land!
