Ranking Every Playable Characters From The Red Dead Series

The characters of the Red Dead series are some of the most iconic personalities in gaming. Today, we're ranking every playable character. Rockstar's Red Dead series is home to iconic characters and memorable lines. If you were not around when the first Red Dead series came out, Red Dead Revolver centers the story of Red Harlow, a bounty hunter, as he hunts down the murderer of his parents. The event occurred in a different universe than Redemption, but Red Harlow's saga is a real standout. From Arthur Morgan and John Marston of the notorious Van der Linde Gang to Red Harlow, the ruthless bounty hunter from the West, we're honoring 10 of the best playable characters from all the three games: Red Dead Revolver, , and . Please be informed that the following ten entries will not be free of major spoilers, and you have been warned! THEGAMER VIDEO OF THE DAY

Shadow Wolf

Back in the days, he was a lone wolf native American who lived by his own moral code. However, things changed when his favorite cousin, Red Harlow, needed his help on his quest to find Colonel Daren, the murderer of his parents. Featured of the Legends and Killers DLC from Red Dead Redemption, Shadow Wolf finally became a playable character for the Multiplayer mode. His signature weapons are the 'sacred' bow, the Widowmaker revolver, knife, and tomahawk. His ability to hunt makes him a lethal option for melee fight.

Mr Kelley

Also from the Legends and Killers DLC of Red Dead Redemption, Mr. Kelly is next on this list. He's a three-time champion of the annual Battle Royale fast-draw, a gun-slinging competition in Brimstone, the largest town on Red Dead Revolver. Not only that, but he's also one of Governor Griffon's top-guns and right-hand men, the primary antagonist on the Revolver universe. However, his death inevitably came when the governor ordered him to kill Red Harlow and the bounty hunter defeated him in the one-on-one duel. His only signature weapon is the Widowmaker revolver.

Annie Stoakes

Much like of Red Dead Redemption II, Annie Stoakes was just an ordinary cattle-ranching girl. Everything went according to her plan up until Governor Griffon wanted to own her ranch. One day, she just came home from the bank where she met Red Harlow to find out that her farm was deserted. Annie managed to kill some of Griffon's bandits that had stayed behind, and she was more than eager for revenge. Just like the last two characters, she's also playable on the Legends and Killers DLC. Her signature weapon is a modified repeater rifle called Faith.

Javier Diego

If Governor Griffon is the chief evil, then Javier Diego is his right hand. Back in the days, he was a general of the Mexican army. Learning that Javier Diego was a part of the group that murdered his family, Red Harlow hunted him down until he executed the General with a pinpoint shot to the face. He's also a playable character from the Legends and Killers DLC, and his signature weapons are a powerful rifle called Martillo del Dios (Hammer of God) and a revolver.

Jack Swift

Born and raised in Sandhurst, a small town in the United Kingdom, Jack Swift was an aspiring rugby player back in his youth. Things changed when he learned that he could make a lot of money from robbing banks, which he did in London before finally moving to America, the "land of opportunity." Before crossing paths with Red Harlow, he became a sharpshooter for a circus. He's one of the playable characters from the Showdown Mode, and he's effective at taking down enemies with incredible accuracy.

RDO Silent Protagonist

Next, much like GTA Online, we have Red Dead Online's silent protagonist, and it's up to you to decide your protagonist's name, gender, or even appearance. At some point, the protagonist was arrested for the wrongful murder of Phillip LeClerk. However, a week before the arranged execution date, the protagonist's wagon was intercepted by a group that wanted to set the protagonist free. As a way to repay the favor, the protagonist is tasked with finding the murderer of Phillip LeClerk by his widow, Jessica.

Red Harlow

Red Harlow, like we've mentioned previously above, is Red Dead Revolver's main character. In the 1890s, Red Harlow caught himself in the middle of a mess after Colonel Daren and his group of bandits attacked their ranch and killed his parents in the process. This event angered him, and he promised himself that he was never going to stop. He would later meet his cousin, Shadow Wolf, and other characters to make his way to the man responsible for his parents' death.

Jack Marston

was born in Van der Linde's world of the outlaw gang, and he learned how to aim and shoot appropriately from his pops. Despite John and Abigail's best effort to shield him from the nefarious life of crime, Jack would eventually find himself in the shadow of his father after learning that the FBI had killed him father under the order of Edgar Ross. During Red Dead Redemption's Epilogue, Jack became a gunslinging warrior and a mirror of what his father used to be. He tracked Edgar Ross until he killed Edgar in a final fast-draw duel.

John Marston

There's no talking about Jack without mentioning . Born in 1873, young John witnessed his father's death when he was only 8. He was then sent to an orphanage before he eventually ran away to make his own luck in the streets. John met Dutch in 1885 after Dutch tried to save him from being executed for stealing in Illinois. Not knowing where to go, John eventually became one of the earliest members of the gang.

Arthur Morgan

The last and best playable Red Dead character to this day is Arthur Morgan. Growing up, young Arthur was basically resigned the same fate as John before Dutch took him under his wing and guided him. Arthur always viewed Dutch as his only father-figure until the dispute that broke out among the gang later on Red Dead Redemption II. Arthur had always been with few moral scruples. His tuberculosis diagnosis became a turning point in life that helped him to see everything from a better perspective. Thanks to him, John and his family got to taste a normal life without the law chasing after them, at least for some time.
