Pokémon Snap 10 Pokémon That Should Have Been In The Game

Pokémon Snap was one of the most unique titles on the Nintendo 64 (and the Pokémon franchise), but it was missing some great Pokémon. Out of the original 151 Pokémon, only 63 were lucky enough to make it into , one of the best-selling games of the 90s and a classic that still holds its own to this day. As the Switch flies off shelves, many are once again calling (and begging) for a remake or sequel of this original classic. Released in 1999 amid the peak of PokéMania, Pokémon Snap holds a fond place in the memories of many. But many of those people don't remember that the original game only had about a third of all the known Pokémon at the time. Here are ten or so that would have been super cool to see in the game. THEGAMER VIDEO OF THE DAY

Exeggutor

via Pinterest.com There are a few Pokémon who truly feel "Kantonian" — seeming so clearly to be from the original generation because of their design and classic status. Exeggutor is one of these Pokémon. The Grass/Psychic evolution of Exeggcute looks like a thick palm tree with multiple heads as coconuts. It would do great in the River stage or in the Valley, towering above the rocks or lush foliage. It's too bad we didn't get to photograph this cool original 'mon expressing the different emotions on its multiple heads for the camera.

Hitmonlee and Hitmonchan

There's isn't much Fighting-type representation in Pokémon Snap. The only Fighting-type that appears is Mankey, perched around a few locations in the Valley stage. Since the game showcases Pokémon in more natural settings than we typically get to see them, wouldn't it be super cool to see a Hitmonchan and Hitmonlee battling one another? The two are based on different types of martial arts, so watching them duke it out would be fun, and would make for some great action shots.

Onix

It's almost unbelievable that such a large, well-known, and classic Pokémon like Onix isn't in Pokémon Snap. This large rock snake could have made for an epic moment, if it had burst through a cliff wall in front of the player and tunnel down a valley as it does in the I Choose You! movie. This Rock/Ground-type would probably suit the Valley level as well, although it wouldn't be surprising to see it in the Tunnel or Cave levels as well.

Ekans & Arbok

This may come as a surprise to some, but there was actually one Pokémon shown in the Pokémon Snap beta that didn't make the final cut — Ekans. Why this single, individual Pokémon was cut isn't known, but if it had been included, it would have rounded the number of 'mons in the game to a nice 64. Since the game was released on the N64, this could have been perfect. Seeing Ekans, or its evolution, Arbok, menacingly slithering toward the player in the Cave or even on the Beach levels would be super cool.

Raichu

Pikachu is without a doubt the most iconic and popular Pokémon in the series, and it's of course recognized around the world as the series' mascot. So, it's no surprise that this little Electric mouse is featured prominently on many of the stages. But, where's the love for Raichu, Pikachu's evolution? The player actively causes a few different Pokémon to evolve, so why not Pikachu? It would be great to see the lovable evolution — which frequently goes without the attention it deserves — zapping the power plant or running alongside the player's vehicle.

Rattata

As a Pokémon that is considered so annoyingly ubiquitous, Rattata is somehow missing from Pokémon Snap. This rodent is the first in that features a new one in every generation. Rattata is a classic Pokémon, featuring prominently on the teams of many due to its early-game availability. Unfortunately, it's nowhere to be seen. It's not in the Cave, not running along the Beach tracks — nowhere.

Machamp

While Hitmonlee and Hitmonchan didn't make it, there's another classic Fighting-type that is emblematic of all Fighting-types. That Pokémon is Machamp, who is often considered the quintessential Fighting-type Pokémon. No member of Machamp's evolutionary line makes an appearance in the game, anywhere. It could be featured working out on the Beach, throwing the Gravelers back up onto the side of the cliff after they're knocked down in the Valley, or really anywhere. Unfortunately, this muscly boy is nowhere.

Krabby

This one just seems self-evident. With a starting level themed around beaches, where is Krabby? This little crab is always shown scuttling along the shoreline or through the sand. Its evolution, Kingler, makes an appearance as one of the Pokémon Signs, but neither are actually present in the game. If not on the Beach stage, Krabby could also appear in the pool of water in the Cave or a few other places, too. But, the Beach makes the most sense.

Eeveelutions

If Pokémon Snap was made in the modern-day, most would probably agree that it would feature the Eeveelutions prominently. The original three — Flareon, Vaporeon, and Jolteon — (plus the newer-generation Eeveelutions) have become , with the Pokémon Company shoving them into everything all the time without question. It's shocking that they weren't featured in Snap originally, with only young Eevee making a brief appearance on the Beach stage. The most surprising part is that their three types, Electric, Fire, and Water, are the basis for three different stages, the Cave, the Volcano, and the River, respectively.

Clefairy

Did you know that Clefairy was , not Pikachu? When Game Freak decided to abandon that idea, it seems they abandoned Clefairy completely — at least in terms of Pokémon Snap. The adorable pink Fairy-type is nowhere to be seen, nor is its evolution Clefable. Alongside Jigglypuff in the Cave level, partying on the Beach, dancing around in the River stage's forests — it doesn't matter. We deserved to see our girl.
