All fans of The Sims know that Maxis isn't exactly famous for great builds. But non-builder players, you could do worse than these ready-made homes. For passionate builders and creative decorators, is a dream come true. Although its gameplay can be a bit lackluster and boring at times, at least it's one of the best games in the series when it comes to all the different designs and details that creators can implement while in build mode. There's also a whole host of pre-made houses in the game for those who feel intimidated by , but let's be honest — Maxis isn't exactly famous for having great builds. Vista Quarry Oasis Springs

Modern houses aren't generally that common in the game, and when they are, they tend to look a little strange and not super interesting. However, for a player looking for a decent and somewhat pleasantly made modern home, Vista Quarry in Oasis Springs is a great place to move into.

VIII Landgraab San Myshuno

While this list is primarily about builds, some of the apartments definitely deserve attention, too. Namely, this VIII Landgraab apartment found in the fashion district of San Myshuno. The apartment has two floors and provides all the luxury for a small household who wants to be known for their wealth. It's the perfect Upper East Side style luxury apartment, without being overly large.

The Lighthouse Windenburg

While most of Windenburg has fairly old houses due to its old town and countryside vibe, this modern house definitely stands out as a really nice build. Location-wise, it's perfect just by the beach of the island, and while it's surrounded by nature, it still has a clean, minimalistic and warm-toned appearance with tons of open space and natural light.

Hakim House San Myshuno

One of the most unique and gorgeous apartments in the game is definitely the Hakim House in San Myshuno. Not only is the decor absolutely top-notch, the design of the apartment is just brilliant. This would be one of the few locations players should keep as it is, because of how much thought was put into it and how colorful it is.

Yuma Heights Oasis Springs

The coolest feature about Oasis Springs is its division between traditional terracotta houses and modern builds. Most of the terracotta ones are actually pretty decent in terms of design, but the best has to be Yuma Heights. This is the ideal desert mansion for a big family. While the front yard is a bit empty, it's a nice clean contrast to the weathered stone of the house and its brick roofing. The best parts are no doubt the balconies, which use the archway doors to create that signature terracotta house look.

Umbrage Manor Willow Creek

Most houses in Willow Creek might not have much of a wow factor, but Umbrage Manor has a surprisingly well-executed and clean design that for once makes sense and doesn't look clunky or bare. It's definitely giving off major maritime and colonial vibes, and while it could use a bit more detailing on the roof, or maybe even a third floor, it's a house that's just the right size for a medium household.

Straud Mansion Forgotten Hollow

Often overlooked as a neighborhood, Forgotten Hollow is the home of vampires in the game, and the architecture fits the theme with a dark, Gothic-meets-Victorian style. The Straud Mansion in particular is a noteworthy place. It's an interesting not just from the outside, but also due to its large secret basement and all the small details that went into making this mansion an ideal vampire lair.

Oakenstead Willow Creek

Another gorgeous home in is the most expensive empty house in the world. The Oakenstead follows the world's colonial style architecture beautifully, surrounded by lush gardens. What's great about this build is the amount of outer detailing on it. Most of Maxis' scream for additional decorations on the outside, but this home looks perfect and complete just as it is.

Von-Windenburg Estate Windenburg

When looking for a home that's between a mansion and a nice, simple estate house, the Von-Windenburg Estate fits the bill just right. It has a slightly more modern appearance, with hints of a countryside home. This is a superb home for any nature-loving Sims in a large household. With such big gardens and tons of nature around, it perfectly captures the blend of modern and old in Windenburg. Plus, it's on an island, so what is there not to love?

Reef Finery Sulani

Sulani is an extremely unique world, mainly because it's so different in terms of climate and appearance from the rest. The natural environment does so much for the builds in this world, that even if they're not always top-notch, they just naturally look really good. One of the best examples of that is the Reef Finery modern island home, perched on water and facing a vibrant coral reef. This truly is the lap of luxury, and in all of its simplicity, it's easily one of the best in the game right now.
