Pokémon Sword & Shield The Isle Of Armor – Every Hoenn Pokémon That Has Been Brought Back
Game Freak's Isle Of Armor DLC has added older Pokémon to the Nintendo Switch's Sword & Shield, including a few from Generation III's Hoenn region. Game Freak has released The Isle of Armor, the first major expansion of . The DLC offers a new Battle Tower, a storyline with unique characters, and an exciting Wild Area that puts the one in the base game to shame. The region has a Pokédex with over 200 entries, with approximately half of those consisting of returning Pokémon from yesteryear. The Isle of Armor includes Pokémon from each generation, giving fans of all eras something t0 get excited about. Compared to Kanto, , and Johto, the DLC did not show Hoenn quite as much love, although Generation III might fare better in the upcoming The Crown Tundra DLC. Here are all the Hoenn Pokémon that have made a comeback in Pokémon Sword & Shield's The Isle of Armor expansion. Any Pokémon featured in The Isle of Armor that was already part of Sword & Shield will not be mentioned. Disclaimer: While the trailer for the Expansion Pass highlighted other Generation III Pokémon such as Absol and Aggron, it looks like they will be included in The Crown Tundra rather than The Isle of Armor. THEGAMER VIDEO OF THE DAY Azurill
While this evolutionary line originated with Generation II's Marill and Azumarill, Hoenn did mark the debut of Azurill, the family's baby Pokémon. Originally a Normal-type, Azurill eventually added Fairy to its categories; consequently, it is a pretty versatile Pokémon that is immune to Ghost and Dragon-types. Azurill's special abilities are also fantastic, especially "Thick Fat," which reduces damage received from Fire and Water-types. Those looking to catch this baby Pokémon will need to visit The Isle of Armor's Brawlers' Cave. Azurill spawns at the same rate regardless of the weather, making it a relatively easy catch. Once caught, Azurill will evolve to Marill once it forms a with its owner. Marill becomes Azumarill at level 18. Whismur
The first form of 's only three-step evolutionary line in The Isle of Armor, Whismur is not the fighting type. In fact, the Pokémon tends to react to danger with a loud scream that could shatter even the most resistant of eardrums. Whismur is not particularly strong, even compared to its base form contemporaries; however, due to being just a , it does not have too many . In The Isle of Armor, Whismur can be found in Brawlers' Cave and has a solid spawn rate in most weather conditions. Loudred
At level 20, Whismur evolves into Loudred, a form that maintains its predecessor's love for loud noises. Similar to Whismur, Loudred is not an especially impressive specimen, although its "Scrappy" hidden ability does give it an edge as it allows Loudred to use Normal and Fighting moves against Ghost Pokémon. As the line is also immune against that type, Whismur and its evolutionary forms are great picks when going up against trainers who specialize in Ghost-types. Loudred cannot be caught directly, so a Whismur will be needed. Exploud
Completing the Whismur line, Loudred evolves into Exploud at level 40, quite high considering the Pokémon is decent but not one of the strongest in the franchise. Unlike its predecessors, Exploud's defensive stats are slightly more respectable, and they combine well with its above-average Attack and Special Attack. Exploud eventually learns Uproar and Hyper Voice, two moves that not only complement the Pokémon's background and personality but are quite devastating in their own right. Although it is outclassed by other Normal-types included in The Isle of Armor, especially Lickilicky and Blissey, Exploud is a fun addition to Sword & Shield's catalog. Carvanha
Two of The Isle of Armor's standout Hoenn Pokémon are , albeit with a bit of darkness thrown in for good measure. Serving as the Pokémon world's equivalent of a piranha, Carvanha can be absolutely savage when it feels threatened. Outside of its territory, the creature is slightly more docile, although trainers might appreciate the Pokémon's violent nature. Carvanha spawns quite frequently in The Isle of Armor's Training Lowlands, therefore it should not require a great deal of work to pick up this Pokémon. Carvanha is a glass cannon, as its is undermined by its terrible Defense and Special Defense. It also does not help that Carvana has quite low Health. Sharpedo
Even if the likes of Kingdra and Starmie outdo Hoenn's shark in terms of stats, Sharpedo nevertheless steals the show in The Isle of Armor. Serving as an example of the potential Pokémon has as an open-world title, Sharpedo roams The Isle of Armor's various seas as a permanent threat, one that will chase down trainers who dare surf over its territory. Sharpedo produces some of the most thrilling moments in the DLC, and the first encounter with the aggressive creature should be a highlight for many players. Although the majority of trainers should be more than strong enough to repel the shark's attack, it is still an entertaining event that Game Freak should use as a reference point for the direction to take the franchise in the future.
