All of it? Yes, all the Earth. In Minecraft. It sounds crazy, but one YouTuber thinks it's possible with a little help. Okay, a lot of help. Someone is trying to create the entire Earth in Minecraft. is pretty incredible. People are doing all sorts of crazy things with Minecraft, like this . It's designed to bypass government firewalls since no country in the world is willing to ban a game as huge as Minecraft. And then we have this crazy guy. He wants to recreate the entire planet in Minecraft. And we're not talking in miniature--we're talking in 1:1 scale, every tree, every mountain, and crucially, every city. It's called the Build The Earth project, and it's the brainchild of YouTuber PippenFTS. And he has a plan to make this happen. THEGAMER VIDEO OF THE DAY His plan involves two mods. First is the , an extremely complex mod that uses open-source and publicly available data to recreate pieces of the Earth in Minecraft. But it has its limitations: it only includes biomes, general terrain, and roadways. Human structures like cities or cultural monuments like the Great Wall of China all get ironed out by the mod into just more terrain. It also can't recreate the world entirely as there's just no hard drive that could contain all that data at once. It just creates bits and pieces of it. The second mod is the . This allows the Build The Earth project to get around Minecraft's usual altitude limitation of 256 bricks by allowing the game to combine lots of little bricks into one enormous brick. This allows the game's engine to process mountains in a 1:1 scale without crashing. Combining these two mods together makes it theoretically possible to recreate the Earth. There's just one thing missing. via PippenFTS on YouTube In order to create all the human stuff like cities, pyramids, and open-sea oil drilling rigs, PippenFTS needs help. All that needs to be done by hand as there's no handy mod that can recreate skyscrapers and ancient Egyptian ruins automatically. He needs an army of Minecraft players to help, so this video is his call to arms. Head to the , head to their to help out, or peruse the to keep Pippen funded while he devotes what is sure to be a significant portion of his life to this project. He still needs a server farm with enough data storage to contain everything, but if we can put a man on the moon, we can put the Earth in Minecraft. Source: ,
