Fire Emblem Three Houses - Ranking Every Crest From Worst To Best
Crests are an important perk in Fire Emblem: Three Houses, but not all of them are as useful as you may think. There's no question that crests in improve a unit's combat ability significantly. They can make a good unit great and make a great unit even better. Considering how great they are in-game, it makes sense why they are so sought after lore-wise. Of course, not all are created equally. Some hardly ever get used in a whole campaign because of how niche they are, while other crests activate several times a mission. Here are all the crests ranked from worst to best. Author's Note: For this list, crests that have the same effect and activation rate will be placed together. All information on activation rates found at . THEGAMER VIDEO OF THE DAY Blaiddyd
Unfortunately for , his crest isn't very helpful in nearly every situation. It doubles the damage for combat arts, but the activation rate is extremely low. Unless a player is constantly using combat arts it won't usually go off. Not many enemy units inhave high enough HP that would require combat arts to double to kill it. Even in those situations, a minor crest of Blaiddyd only activates 10% of the time, so even when it's necessary, it probably won't happen. Cichol Goneril
The crests of Chichol and Goneril prevent enemy counterattacks half the time for a major crest and about a third of the time for a minor crest. Although the activation rate is high for a crest, the effect is what brings it down. Combat arts are usually used to defeat an enemy unit before they can counterattack, so the crest will rarely take effect. Unless a unit with this crest is going up against a demonic beast with a lot of HP and no gambit, crest activation usually isn't necessary. Seiros Daphnel Gautier Charon
The crests of Seiros, Daphnel, Gautier, and Charon all raise might by five for combat arts at a very high activation rate. Combat arts were introduced into the game to help players get that extra bit of damage needed to finish off an enemy, and these crests aid in that. Against some enemies, not even combat arts will be enough, but one of these crests activating could be what's needed to finish off an enemy. While still somewhat niche, they have a high activation rate and a decent effect makes them good crests to rely on when needed most. Dominic Noa
The Dominic and Noa crests have a nice bit of utility that can help make a good magic user better. While they don't increase damage, they do conserve attack magic uses 20% of the time. One of these crests activating can be very helpful early game when mages don't have a ton of magic uses, or late game when mages get devastating magic attacks with only a couple uses. Timotheos Lamine
Just like the crests of Dominic and Noa, the crests of Timotheos and Lamine conserve magic uses 20% of the time. Instead of attack magic, however, it conserves uses of recovery magic. The effect is always helpful when a player's units are taking a lot of damage, and they only have one dedicated healer. If that healer has the crest of Timotheos or Lamine, they won't out of recovery magic too early. Riegan Chevalier
The or Chevalier crests activate when using combat arts. What makes these crests better than the other crests that activate when using combat arts is that they heal the crest bearer 30% of damage done. This effect works well with combat arts because they increase damage, so a character with this crest heals more. This effect can come in clutch when a character needs healing but can't get it from somewhere else. Cethleann
The crest of Cethleann is a perfect crest for any healer. It raises Might by 5 when using recovery magic. This goes for any time a unit heals, so a character with a major crest of Cethleann will heal an extra five health half the time. This is helpful to any healer because an extra five health for a unit could very well save that unit when attacked by a strong opponent. Add on a high activation rate, and the crest of Cethleann is one of the better crests in the game. Aubin Ernest
The crests of Aubin and prevent enemy counterattacks at a fairly low activation rate. However, the crest always has a chance of activating, so combat arts are not necessary for the chance to activate. If someone has a major version of these crests, they will prevent enemy counterattacks 20% of the time. These crests are great for glass cannons or high-speed units who want to attack twice without being hit themselves. Indech
The crest of Indech is one of the most powerful crests in the game because it allows the user to strike twice with a weapon (essentially giving them the same effect as a Brave weapon). The low activation rate is what stops it from being one of the best crests in the game. The available characters with this crest only have the minor versions, so the crest only activates 10% of the time. It's wonderful when it activates, but it doesn't come up often enough to make it an amazing crest. Gloucester Macuil
While the crests of Gloucester and Macuil have lower activation rates than some others, it has the opportunity to activate for every magic attack. Because of that, these crests will usually activate at least once or twice per mission. Having the ability to add an extra five Might to every magic attack is very helpful in all situations. There's a reason why is one of the best units in the game, and the crest of Gloucester is one of them. Fraldarius Beast
The perfect crests for a weapon user are the crests of and . Like the crest of Gloucester, it increases Might by five except for weapons instead of magic. What makes Fraldarius and Beast better is that they have a very high activation rate at 40% That means almost every other attack by a unit with this crest will increase their Might by five. Units with these crests can do a lot of damage very quickly when the crest activates, especially if they do double damage. Flames
Naturally, the main character with a mysterious past gets the best crest in the game. The crest of Flames does everything most of the other crests do. It restores 30% of damage done when using weapons, combat arts, or magic, and then has a chance to raise Might by 5 and prevent counterattacks. It does have a low activation rate, but it does so much and activates every time that it hardly matters. It will come into effect every mission as long as or is used.
