10 Hidden Details Fans Missed In Thronebreaker The Witcher Tales

Think you know it all about 'Thronebreaker: The Witcher Tales'? We bet you missed these hidden details in this popular Witcher spin-off! A big departure from the main series, Thronebreaker is sure to grant a breath of fresh air for fans who have run through the series a few times. Instead of casting spells and slashing beasts of various forms, players will have to use their minds to complete a series of puzzles and strategy games in a much more linear setting. It also changes up the character list, putting the great Queen Meve in the driver's seat. A choice that gives avid followers of the series a chance to view world from a new perspective. With a pretty heavy overlap between this and the main games, it's rife with references from both the main game and popular culture in various subtle ways. THEGAMER VIDEO OF THE DAY

Anseis Return

This will only be a real click for those that played the Blood and Wine DLC in . On one of the quests named ''Warble Of A Smitten Knight'', players will encounter a young lad who challenges Geralt to a duel. This same boy is the son of Meve, her youngest son to be exact. Not that the games weren't tightly interwoven to begin with but the subtle reference definitely adds depth to the world.

Favorite Elf Letter

Iorveth, the people champion as far as the fans are concerned. Extremely skilled at combat and one of the best allies should players keep their word at the beginning of . The up and down relationship that characters can go on with him is a true roller coaster. Found on Eldain, the letter details how they made contact with the elf. Waging war against human forces and awaiting Eldain's word. Unfortunately, it seems that contact was never made.

Zoltan s Engagement

Zoltan Chivay, Geralt's dear friend and the previous owner of his sword, Sihil. Those who have played series will know the dwarf from the beat-down that you rescue him from in the first game, or his talking parrot, either way. The quest named ''The Betrothed'' will lead you into helping Eudora Breckenriggs, Zoltan's fiance. Players will be lead on a hunt to convince Eudora's father to bless the marriage, seeing as Zoltan's such an unsavory character, in dwarf terms at least.

Hagrid s House

If you wander around Aedin long enough, fans of the Harry Potter series will stumble upon a familiar sight. A stone cottage with a pumpkin patch outside, calling back to everyone's favorite groundskeeper. If you talk to the character out front he even begins warning about the Acromantula, just in case players didn't get the hint yet. All it needs is the griffin to swoop down as the cherry on top.

Hearthstone Dwarf Singing

It's not particularly hard to catch as the singing begins when players are beside the puzzle lookalike. With a keen ear, players will hear the dwarf singing to the jingle bells melody in Mahakam. While the relation is clear with the puzzle and strategy gameplay, the amount of Hearthstone love is strong in Thronebreaker. For a shoutout heavy game, this relationship seems to take the cake.

Monty Python Taunt

Another example of the good taste of the creators, the team even managed to sneak in a Monty Python reference as a throwaway. The best thing is that there's no specific location to encounter the line, just try and enter a camp or fort and players will be berated. ''Your mother was a hamster and your father smells of elderberries!'' Those that don't know might think that was the most random insult going, but there's no mistaking it for fans of Monty Python

Darkest Dungeon Narrator

is another in the genre of Fantasy/Strategy games that get a shoutout in the game, being one of the most stressful games in the category. Once players make it to the battle with Gernichora, they may hear the narrator spurting off a few lines that some will find familiar. Shouts of ''These nightmarish creatures can be felled, they can be beaten'' will ring true to the fans of both. Using the script of the ancestor's memoirs of Darkest Dungeon is an apt fit for the battle players are going through.

The Banner Saga

Diverting from the usual gameplay, Thronebreaker has drifted into the more tactical role-playing realm. You can't just drift into another genre without paying tribute to the games before you, especially when you're as big as The Witcher. In a rather obvious shoutout, the character travels across a snow-laden field with a single banner sticking out. The sidekick then mentions the strange scene would be interesting enough to start a saga, subtle.

South Park Sceptre

Making the big move of not only referencing games but South Park, Thronebreaker has thrown in the Sceptre of Storms as a playable card. While most players won't recognize the name even if they did play one of the franchises many games, the description gives it all away. ''Some call it the stick of truth.'' Fans of the games will instantly recognize the hint seeing as it's the name of the game. While it's a seemingly random easter egg, at least we know the creators have good taste.

Gaunter O Dimm

The Witcher's version of Satan himself, Gaunter O Dimm is lurking in the shadows, even passing through game titles it seems. Though he's much more of a deal-making businessman, the payment is always the character's souls. Once the player beats the puzzle in the south of Rivia, a letter will appear that bears a stunning resemblance to the deals of old Gaunter. Even in the pursuit of magical powers, signing in blood seems a little extreme.
