20 Grand Theft Auto Easter Eggs And Myths You HAVE To See

True fans need to see these incredible Grand Theft Auto myths — there's a lot in the games you've completely missed!! The first Grand Theft Auto game was released back in 1997 and back then no one really had any idea that it would go on to become one of the bestselling video games of all time. The concept of an open world game where players were free to do stuff that they normally couldn’t in real life was extremely fun. Fast forward to 2013 and the latest entry in the franchise, GTA V was released to the masses. The new game features more detail and content than any of the previous titles and the inclusion of an online multiplayer mode has ensured that it is still going strong four years later. Since these games are open world, it provides the developers with plenty of opportunities to include all sorts of easter eggs in there. These range from pop culture references to inappropriate jokes and characters from some of the other games released by Rockstar. New myths and easter eggs related to all the different GTA titles still show up so we decided to sit down and gather some of the craziest easter eggs and myths from the Grand Theft Auto franchise that are a must-see for everyone. So sit down, put your game face on and get exploring! THEGAMER VIDEO OF THE DAY

Hunting For The Bigfoot – GTA V

Via youtube.com (PC Games) The legend of the infamous Bigfoot is not new to the Grand Theft Auto universe, in fact, it has been around since the days of GTA: San Andreas. Back then, there was a huge rumor that Rockstar had hidden the creature somewhere in the Back O’ Beyond, but this proved wrong when the company officially claimed that Bigfoot didn’t exist. Still, some myths are just too interesting to be ignored. Rockstar kept this in mind during the creation of GTA V and we were finally given Bigfoot among some of the countless other easter eggs in the game. The creature is first encountered during the Predator mission where the task is to take down the O’Neil brothers as Michael using a rifle and a thermal scope. Looking in the bottom right corner of the area will reveal Bigfoot. The creature can also be encountered in one of Franklin’s later mission with a hunter.

The Alien From North Yankton – GTA V

Via youtube.com (Gamerando) This is probably one of the most famous easter eggs in Grand Theft Auto V, and it is also one that people miss very easily given its location. Aliens are a common occurrence throughout the game but that is usually in one of Michael’s hallucination sequences. This, however, proves that aliens do exist in the GTA universe. To view the North Yankton alien, you first have to be in North Yankton which is only possible either during the Prologue or in a later mission called ‘Bury the Hatchet’. During the prologue chase scene, simply veer off course as you approach the railroad track intersection. Keep driving along the frozen river until you finally reach under the bridge. Get out of the car and you should be able to see a frozen alien under the ice.

The Mount Gordo Horrors – GTA V

Via gamerguides.com The amount things that Rockstar has included in Grand Theft Auto V is absolutely crazy. There are so many things to do and so much to explore. If you’re a fan of the horror genre then Mount Gordo is a place that you should definitely check out. It is the smallest of the only three mountains in the game and home to the ghost of Jolene Evans. It is said that in 1978, Jolene and her husband Jock were out on a hike when the two of them got into an argument. It was about Jock’s desire to move out of the county which was something Jolene couldn’t do because of her old parents. The argument escalated, and Jock ended up pushing his wife off the cliff, killing her as a result. Since then, Jolene’s ghost shows up on Mt. Gordo every day between 11 pm and 12 am.

Finding Jesus On The Beach – GTA V

Via youtube.com (TheRealOboe) It seems as if the guys over at Rockstar weren’t willing to just stop at pop culture icons since they decided to go even a step further. There have been multiple representations of Jesus in popular media throughout history and GTA V is no different. While not directly referenced as Jesus himself, a guy named Jesse carries all of the other attributes that you would expect from Jesus. To meet up with him, simply head down to the Del Pero Beach shown in the location above. This is where you will find Jesse and he won’t hesitate to say ‘holy’ things like his dad was a real mean guy and that his dad wasn’t very nice to the Jews. These subtle references leave no doubt that Jesse is pretty much Jesus in the Grand Theft Auto universe.

Action figures Of Popular Characters – GTA San Andreas

Via youtube.com (Relentless Rogues) Every new Grand Theft Auto game has found a way to put in easter eggs related to the characters from previous GTA games and some of the other games released by Rockstar over the years. GTA: San Andreas is no exception to this rule by bringing us action figures of some of our favorite characters. A shop called Zero RC which is owned by Zero can be bought for $30,000 when the person who originally owns the land is deciding to sell it. This unlocks special missions that players can carry out for Zero, but it also allows them to go inside and explore the shop. Models of different in-game vehicles can be seen inside, but really cool part is coming across action figures of Tommy Vercetti and Lance Vance of Vice City. Action figures of James Earl Cash and Piggsy from the Manhunt franchise can also be seen.

Finding Gordon Freeman s Crowbar In Area 69 – GTA San Andreas

Via imgur.com While Area 51 is the subject of countless conspiracy theories in real life, San Andreas is home to a similar location called Area 69. The name here was chosen on purpose, something that Rockstar does quite often in its games. The facility is heavily guarded and flying over it always triggers a wanted level along with attacks from SAM sites and Hydras. It is also the site for a number of top-secret government projects and experiments, the most famous one among which is the Jetpack. There is also an underground area which can only be accessed during the Black Project mission apart from making use of certain glitches. Once inside the area, players can access an area which resembles Black Mesa from the Half-Life series. A crowbar and SPAS 12 can also be seen inside which clearly belong to Gordon Freeman.

Finding The Submarine – GTA Vice City

Via gta.wikia.com Did you know that Vice City had a submarine? It’s okay if you didn’t since this is something that is not very easily noticeable because of the fact that there is no option to explore the water. This was the first time that a submarine showed up in a Grand Theft Auto game but the purpose behind it is unknown even to this day. It can be found suspended in the water north of the North Point Mall and guarding a shipwreck of the Chartered Libertine Lines. Another completely destroyed submarine can be found in the junkyard yet none of the missions in the game provide any tasks related to either of these. The first functional submersible was introduced in GTA V which allows players to explore the ocean.

The Scarface Easter Egg - GTA Vice City

Via twitter.com Perhaps the biggest easter egg in Grand Theft Auto: Vice City is that related to one of the most famous movies in Hollywood history. It is none other than the 1983 hit, Scarface. This Al Pacino classic has a very notable scene where a drug deal inside an apartment goes horribly wrong. To access the apartment in Vice City, players need to go to the building that is located opposite to the underground shopping mall. Climbing the stairs on the building will lead to a room which can be entered. Here you will come across a case with some cocaine and a chainsaw. Moving to the bathroom will reveal blood splatter on the wall, perfectly representing the scene from the movie where Tony Montana’s friend is murdered in the bathroom with a chainsaw.

Puncturing Vehicle Fuel Tanks – GTA V

Via youtube.com (RogueGaming) The amount of realism that has been brought into Grand Theft Auto V is absolutely insane. Even the smallest of details have been made part of the game and this one, in particular, is not only cool but will also greatly help you out when playing. It is possible to puncture the fuel tank on a vehicle which can give you certain advantages. Shooting the fuel tank multiple times will cause the vehicle to catch fire and then blow up. This is not all, however, as once the tank is shot, it will start leaking gas which is super easy to ignite. The leaking gas tank will also cause the vehicle to lose fuel, bringing the vehicle to a stop once it completely runs out. This is a fun trick to try on your friends in multiplayer and will surely annoy them.

The UFO Under Water – GTA V

Via gta-myths.wikia.com As we have mentioned earlier, references to extra-terrestrial beings are made multiple times throughout the game in the form of easter eggs. Where you wouldn’t expect one of these to show up, however, is underwater. There is an entirely new world under the sea, and the developers have made sure that players have plenty of stuff to do when exploring it. This is also where few of the game’s easter eggs can be found and a sunken UFO is one of them. It can be found off the Paleto Bay coast and from the looks of it, the spacecraft crash-landed a long time ago since it is covered in corals and all sorts of other sea plants. The UFO also appears to show some damage which could’ve been the result of the impact with the ocean floor.

The Friends From Old Grove – GTA V

Via gta.wikia.com How can we forget Grove Street? The place holds a special place in the heart of everyone who spent a considerable time playing Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. It was where our protagonist from the game CJ and the rest of his friends used to live. Since GTA V was set in San Andreas, there was no way that the developers would pass up an opportunity to pay homage to some of the most famous characters from the GTA franchise. One of the missions called Hood Safari is set in Groove Street where players will be able to see three characters riding by on bicycles. What makes this even more exciting is the fact that these characters look exactly like CJ, Big Smoke and Sweet from GTA: San Andreas.

Niko Bellic s Social Media Presence – GTA V

Via youtube.com (BlueKnight) The social media equivalent of Facebook in GTA V is known as LifeInvader. The name makes a lot of sense considering the fact that social media has completely taken over the lives of so many people in the real world. Still, it is also a great way of staying in touch with old friends or people that we usually don’t get to see very often. During a random tour through Michael’s house, players will be able to see Michael’s son Jimmy browsing the social media website on his laptop. It can be pretty easy to miss, but if you decide to look closely, you will notice that Jimmy is checking out Niko Bellic’s LifeInvader page. Yes, this is same Niko Bellic from Grand Theft Auto IV. His famous cousin, Roman, is also listed on his friend’s list.

Finding Brucie Kibbutz – GTA V

Via giantbomb.com Remember Brucie Kibbutz? He was the automotive entrepreneur, also famous for being a frequent user of steroids that players came across in GTA IV. He is one of the main characters in the game that Niko interacts with during certain missions. To say that Brucie is normal would be a huge understatement. Because of his habits of taking steroids, he usually gets himself in trouble for roid rage or for selling steroid to other people. Brucie’s story doesn’t end in GTA IV, however, as he shows up quite a few time in GTA V. Normally he can be heard on the radio advertising a new type of steroid called Bullshark Testosterone. He finally appears in Grand Theft Auto Online once the player reaches level 17.

Easter Eggs From Lester s House – GTA V

Via youtube.com (LaroseTV:Game!) Lester’s entire house is filled up with so many easter eggs that an entire article could be dedicated to just this one entry. There are references to some of the other major real-world franchises and some of the older Grand Theft Auto characters. It can be quite easy to miss some of these items. On the bookshelf inside the house, a book named Surveillance can be seen which carries the image of CJ on it. Moving further, a poster of a UFO with the line “Accept the truth” can be seen which is a clear reference to Fox Mulder’s poster in X-files. Last but not least, action figures from some of the most popular characters can be seen next to Lester’s bedroom. These include Master Chief, Black Adam from DC, and Han Solo from Star Wars. A replica of the Excalibur can also be seen here.

Visiting The Heart Of Liberty City – GTA IV

Via gamesradar.com Liberty City is full of life and, with tons of stuff to do, it can be quite some time before you’re able to fully explore everything. Still, visiting the heart of Liberty City is something you should definitely do when playing GTA IV. We’re not using a figure of speech here. To access this easter egg, you will first need to grab a helicopter and fly to where the statue of happiness is located. Next, ditch the helicopter so that you land on an area with multiple doors. It won’t be very difficult to figure out the correct door here since there will be two signs next to it saying “No Hidden Content Here”. Step through the door and you should see a ladder that you can climb. Congratulation, you’ve just found the actual beating heart of Liberty City.

Hillary Clinton And The Statue Of Happiness – GTA IV

Via reddit.com Grand Theft Auto has been in the middle of lawsuits and political controversy since day one. Many people have blamed the game for being too violent and as a result, being directly responsible for eliciting violent behavior among children. Whether that is true or not is a topic of huge debate but back in 2005, Rockstar found themselves in some hot water because of GTA: San Andreas. Apparently, a “Hot Coffee” mod was created which unlocked some of the game’s inappropriate scenes. This controversy caused the game to be pulled from all major stores. An investigation was launched into the matter by ESRB and Senator Hillary Clinton. Years later with the development of GTA: IV, Rockstar decided to highlight this event by creating the Statue of Happiness in Hillary Clinton’s likeness while also making the statue hold a cup of hot coffee.

The Republican Space Rangers – GTA IV

Via youtube.com (GTAExpertTV) Don’t you ever wish that the Republicans and the entire plot of Halo existed in the same universe? Well, neither did we but apparently, someone at Rockstar did. Since it is possible to watch TV in GTA IV, developers had to create content for it in true Grand Theft Auto fashion i.e. by creating short satirical shows. One of these is Republican Space Rangers which is a cartoon show that runs on Weazel. It features three American men who are out on a mission to eliminate all threats against America. The characters of the show usually wear green armor which looks quite similar to the MJOLNIR armor from the Halo series. Different conservative views are also parodied quite often while also mocking the American foreign policy.

Existence of Scientology In GTA Universe – GTA IV

Via gtaforums.com and amazon.co.uk While putting in references to some of the other things in real life, Rockstar didn’t miss the opportunity to include Scientology. The Church of Scientology promotes and believes in the principles brought forth by L. Ron Hubbard who strongly believes that humans were meant to be immortal beings but have gradually lost their way. Whether you agree with that or not is entirely up to you. However, you can definitely find the church of Scientology in GTA IV. It is located in Alderney where it can’t really be missed. If you notice the image on the rear window, you will see an erupting volcano which is a reference to another of Hubbard’s creation called Dianetics. Moving to the front of the church will allow you to encounter a man ranting about how biology doesn’t exist and that humans are a nothing but a probability wave.

The Max Pane Bulletproof Glass – GTA San Andreas

Via gta.wikia.com For those who have played Max Payne will easily understand this little easter egg in Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. Others who are not really familiar with the game, let us jog your memory a bit. Max Payne was a third-person shooter developed by a bunch of studios including Rockstar and released in 2001. It quickly became famous, more specifically for its use of “bullet time” during action sequences. Naturally, Rockstar decided to give the game a nod in GTA: San Andreas. In the game, Max Pane is a company which specializes in the creation of bulletproof glass. The easter egg can be seen during the Tanker Commander mission where a panel of Max Pane glass with bullet holes is shown.

Searching For The Hidden Sign – GTA III

Via youtube.com (MattJ155) The 3D universe for Grand Theft Auto was kicked off by GTA III after the successful release of the previous two games, both of which had a top-down view. The Hidden Sign was perhaps the first major easter egg to be included in a GTA game, and because of this, it has become quite famous in the GTA community. To access it, players need to hop into a small car such as the taxi. Next, drive to the parking lot in Bedford Point. A set of stairs in the parking lot will lead to a platform from where you can climb on top of your taxi and jump onto a building located to the west of the parking lot. From there, simply jump down from the wall and into an alley which would normally be inaccessible. Here you will see the infamous Hidden Sign which basically tells you that you weren’t supposed to get there.
