Rumor New Bioshock Game Under Secret Development

Rumor has it that a new Bioshock game is in development by a secret 2K studio. No other info on the game is available right now. There is some potentially exciting news for fans of the Bioshock series today: a top-secret 2K Games studio is working on a new entry in the franchise, despite the restructuring of Irrational Games (who had produced two of the first three titles) into Ghost Story Games. The Bioshock series comprises three games at the moment: Bioshock, set in the collapsing, underwater objectivist utopia of Rapture; Bioshock 2, its sequel set years later with the city still reeling from the events of the first; and Bioshock: Infinite, set on the floating city of Columbia. The games have some crucial things in common - each game was known for its rich story, rife with philosophical concepts other games rarely touched upon. What's more, there was always a man, there was always a city, and there was always a lighthouse. Apparently, he learned of the secret studio and its project while visiting the developers of Mafia III, Hangar 13. When Irrational Games first underwent significant restructuring - dropping from 90 employees to 15 - in 2015, it was clear the studio would not be part of Bioshock's future. 2K Games, for its part, was quick to point out that - after all, it was another studio, 2K Marin, that produced Bioshock 2. We have no way of knowing how far along this new game is - in fact, it may never see the light of day. For now, we can only speculate. It seems unlikely that the game would revisit Rapture or Columbia, ruling out both the sea and the sky as potential settings. If you're hoping for space, well, then you might be better served by System Shock, the game series that Bioshock is a spiritual successor to. We don't even know if the new game will make an appearance at this year's E3, but we can certainly hope. What do you think?
