We ll Be Together Forever

via: inverse.com The first Fantastic Beasts movie made us aware that Queenie Goldstein was not going to just let No-Maj Jacob Kowalski out of her life. Even if he did lose his memories of his time spent in the Wizarding World, Queenie was going to hold onto him. That's sweet and all, but by the time The Crimes of Grindelwald premiered, we found out that she had charmed Jacob into wanting to marry her, using magic to force him to agree. Now that's some Voldermort-level stuff up in here.

The Ultimate Transfiguration Trick

via: theringer.com For the longest time, all Harry Potter book fans knew that, in his “youth,” Dumbledore taught Transfiguration at Hogwarts. Once he became headmaster, Professor McGonagall took over the Transfiguration teaching spot. But, in The Crimes of Grindelwald, Dumbledore is clearly shown teaching Defense Against the Dark Arts. So, be aware, J.K. Rowling is changing up canon in her new movies. The sooner you swallow this, the easier it will be to digest.

They Were Expecting

via: comicbook.com Here's a cute little thing you can learn without bemoaning the complications of the plot. That Niffler we saw in Fantastic Beasts got busy and had herself some babies. When Newt returns to his home, don't be surprised when you see a collection of baby Nifflers rearranging his apartment. This was my favorite part of The Crimes of Grindelwald. Bring on the Nifflers, I say. In a movie with “Fantastic Beasts” in the title, I expect to see fantastic beasts more often than not.

How Did Credence Survive

via: mythwallpaper.com The end of the first movie had us believe that Credence Barebone was blown to smithereens. His Obscurial form was seen drifting off into the air, leaving his survival in question. As you could probably surmise from the footage in the trailer for The Crimes of Grindelwald, Credence made it. He somehow managed to live through the experience of being torn apart and he still looks as sullen as before. I thought being an Obscurial was supposed to be progressively bad for your health?

A Chupacabra For A Pet

via: comicbookmovie.com I was a bit unsure of how Grindelwald effected his escape from Wizard custody. As I understand it, Grindelwald somehow befriended the Chupacabra that was guarding him. So, that's one thing that happened in between Fantastic Beasts 1 and 2. Grindelwald made friends with a fantastic beast and, of course, the sequel does nothing to explain how this happened once it got started. I was honestly so confused as to why this little lizard thing was allowed in Grindelwald's cell and why it started helping him.

A Brotherly Engagement

via: cbr.com Leta Lestrange was mentioned briefly in the first Fantastic Beasts movie. She's this woman that Newt has apparently had a crush on since their time at Hogwarts together. The Crimes of Grindelwald reveals that, since the first movie, Leta has gotten herself engaged to Newt's brother, Theseus Scamander. As of yet, we have no clue as to how Leta ended up with Theseus instead of Newt. But, just so you know, that's where things stand when the movie starts.

Chasing Credence

via: dailydot.com The first movie saw Grindelwald, disguised as Percival Graves, trying to discover an Obscurial in the West. At the time, Grindelwald did not know that Credence was the Obscurial. In the sequel, Grindelwald's attention is totally focused on Credence and he wants to get him on his side. Since he was so dismissive of Credence in the first movie, his objective to sway Credence in the second feels like an afterthought. Plus, it makes the ending revelation that Credence is a Dumbledore feel like a lie.

McGonagall Is Here

via: fanpop.com Canon is just breaking all over the place in The Crimes of Grindelwald. In the Harry Potter books, when Dolores Umbridge questions McGonagall about when she started working at Hogwarts, she replies that she started working in the 1950s. However, she is seen teaching at Hogwarts in The Crimes of Grindelwald, which takes place in 1927. This new timeline is really messing with our heads. Just so you know, that's how it goes sometimes in the Rowling-verse; utter confusion.

Keeping An Obscurial On The Down-Low

via: inverse.com Credence, despite his furtive personality, ends up being a bombastic creature in the latter parts of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. He can't control when his Obscurial-ness lets loose; he's basically a cannon waiting to go off. In The Crimes of Grindelwald, it appears that he has much better control over his nature. You have to assume that in the three months since the last movie's events occurred, Credence has remained effectively hidden from the rest of the world.

A Friend In The Magical Congress

via: pottermore.com The Magical Congress should really keep a better eye on their prisoners. I mean, if No-Majs are so concerned with surveillance and stuff, you would think that their magical counterparts would be, too. The beginning of The Crimes of Grindelwald rushes by this fact, but you have to know that Grindelwald was able to turn one of the MACUSA wizards. Abernathy, formerly an Auror, has apparently joined Grindelwald's cause while Grindelwald was in prison.

A Ministry Job For Newt

via: gamesradar.com Brothers should have a decent idea of what their other sibling is like. For example, Theseus should know better than anyone that a Ministry job is something his brother Newt is definitely not suited for. However, that doesn't stop him from trying. Theseus has apparently been trying to get Newt a job at the Ministry after the events of the first movie. The Ministry of Magic wants Newt to follow after Credence Barebone and finish what he started in New York.

Building A Following

via: dailydot.com While Grindelwald was in captivity, a large following of witches and wizards were gearing up to stand with him. I can't wrap my head around how so many people ended up wanting to join him after he had spent more than a few months in Wizarding jail. Was Grindelwald doing some ideological promotion while he was behind bars? Was there some form of propaganda we didn't get a chance to see? Because we can't really witness what takes place in between films.

What Is Newt Doing There

via: bustle.com Leta Lestrange's engagement to Theseus Scamander was apparently a big deal on the Wizarding scene. A picture was taken of her, Theseus, and Newt for a magical newspaper in order to announce the engagement. However, the newspaper accidentally misprints some information and says that Leta is engaged to Newt. What I want to know is, why was Newt even included in the engagement announcement in the first place? That has got to be a mistake, right?

Credence s Travels

via: technobuffalo.com In the months between the movies, Credence has decided to go on a journey of self-discovery. Actually, he wants to learn who his family is, but it took me a while to figure that out. After New York, Credence managed to make his way to Paris, France. He was able to track down information about his mother, but this information ends up being a trail laid down by Grindelwald to get Credence to join him. So, how did Grindelwald manage to do that while in jail?

Lackluster Dumbledore

via: nordic.businessinsider.com Do you want to know what Dumbledore was doing in those months between Fantastic Beasts 1 and 2? He was doing absolutely nothing. Well, that's a lie. I'm sure he was occupied with teaching the students of Hogwarts. But, Dumbledore was doing nothing to stop Gellert Grindelwald's inexplicable advance into the ideology of Wizard-kind. You find out in The Crimes of Grindelwald that he took an oath not to harm Grindelwald himself, which explains why he didn't take action against him.

No Snail Mail For Wizards

via: harrypotter.wikia.com Tina Goldstein spent her time away from Newt fastidiously ignoring him. She read the falsely-printed news-story of Newt getting engaged to Leta Lestrange, which upset Tina so much (since she had feelings for Newt herself) that she decided not to talk to him afterwards. So, Tina had no communication with Newt until they met in Paris, during the events of The Crimes of Grindelwald. Very convenient, don't you think? I would have thought they would have spoken to each other through owls or something.

Who Else Has Grindelwald Influenced

via: wizardsandwhatnot.com Grindelwald was very busy while he was in the clutches of MACUSA. One of his supporters, Auror Grimmson of Britain's Ministry of Magic, wormed his way into being in charge of the hunt for Credence Barebone. I wish we could have seen Grindelwald's rise to power in action instead of just seeing its aftermath. By the time we begin observing the situation, it seems that Grindelwald already has a solid fan base at his disposal; Auror Grimmson is just one of many.

It s Circus Time

via: technobuffalo.com I could not begin to tell you how Credence was able to get to France without any money. I also can't explain how he was able to get himself work at this magical circus either. The entrance to this circus was well-hidden, visible only to witches and wizards. While Credence is an Obscurial, he has had no training in the ways of wizardry. How was he able to find this place? Let alone get himself a job working there when, as far as I'm aware, he has no prior experience working at a circus.

Wash Away The Rain

via: youtube.com (Love on Screen Movies and Tv series) Jacob Kowalski was the best character in Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them. When he had to lose all of his memories about his time spent with Newt, Tina, and Queenie, it was a truly sad moment. Don't let that moment bother you, though. The Crimes of Grindelwald opens with the understanding that Jacob got all of his memories back, thanks to the ineffable Queenie. We did not have to worry about losing our favorite No-Maj after all.

Why Couldn t He Use A Port Key

via: scifi.stackexchange.com Grindelwald spent his time between each Fantastic Beasts movie in a prison while being transferred to Britain in the opening of The Crimes of Grindelwald. That must be some slow bureaucracy to trudge through. It took three months for Grindelwald's extradition to be finalized. Plus, in the end, why was it necessary to transport Grindelwald back using Thestrals and a carriage? Couldn't a bunch of wizards have arranged for a Portkey or guided apparition?
