Laura Ryan, the state's Transport Commissioner, said that the remarkably high number of car crashes in the state could be attributed to several reasons, some of which may be as simple as wearing a seat belt. Ryan said: “Driver behavior is one of the causes, but also one of the most important solutions. For instance, in 2021, a total of 1,522 people were killed because of speed, and a total of 1,219 people were killed because they were not wearing a seat belt. These were decisions made by people that could have potentially saved 2,741 lives.” According to the Houstonian, 30% of the reported car crashes in the state are caused by speeding. A whopping 79% are linked to drunk driving, leading to more than 2500 car crashes a year. Poll : 0 votes Quick Links More from Sportskeeda Edited by Upasya Bhowal × Feedback Thank You!
