DC 10 Photoshop Fancastings Better Than The Actual Movies And 10 That Could Never Work

When fans get attached to characters, they start to imagine their favorite actors in the roles. Here's some that do, and don't, work. The DC Extended Universe is certainly a collection of films that aren't to everybody's taste. Warner Bros. Studios have done their best to tap into the superhero genre and make some big bucks, and whilst it's obvious they're raking in some mighty dollar in the worldwide box office, they often fail to live up to their biggest opponents on the market: Marvel Studios and the . So much so, that those who have worked on DC Films in the past even recently said the DCEU isn't an official title for their universe! It's all very confusing stuff. When it comes to the casting of characters within the DC Films we've seen to-date, there have been some incredible choices made, and some we would have rather seen filled with another talent. That's what we're taking a look at today, as we delve into the compelling world of Photoshop fancastings! Don't get us wrong, we don't think fans should always play an integral role in deciding who gets cast when it comes to DC movies. Just remember the uproar when the late Heath Ledger was announced as tackling the Joker, and how all of that turned out. The same happened with Ben Affleck's casting as Batman, and the actor has proven he's more than capable of playing the World's Greatest Detective. With all of that in mind, we've decided to take a look at 10 DC Photoshop Fancastings Better Than The Actual Movies (And 10 That Could Never Work). THEGAMER VIDEO OF THE DAY

Better A Darker Knight

via: twitter.com/bosslogic Jeffrey Dean Morgan has proven time and again he's capable of lending his acting talents to a variety of different roles. Whether he's the loveable Grey's Anatomy character Denny, the villainous Negan in , or even Thomas Wayne himself in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, he steals many of the scenes he's a part of. He could make one of the most intriguing Bruce Waynes of all time. JDM has already expressed an interest in playing Batman in the upcoming Flashpoint movie, so we hope some calls have been made behind-the-scenes! This would be fan service on a level we've never seen before, and would certainly make some huge waves in the industry. We can't think of anybody better suited for the job. Bring it on!

Wouldn t Work Missing The Mark

via: quirkybyte.com Riddle me this: Why wouldn't somebody like Neil Patrick Harris be a coup for the DCEU? Well, thanks to his recent take on Count Olaf in Netflix original show A Series of Unfortunate Events, his acting seems even hammier than one would want for The Riddler! Yes, Edward Nygma is without a doubt one of the campest, most eccentric characters to come from the world of DC, but we think Harris would probably take the role too far. Still, the experience of seeing NPH tackling such a dark and twisted character would be one for the history books. Whilst we don't think it would work, it would certainly get people talking, which the DCEU really needs right now. NPH has even expressed an interest in the role on social media. Maybe we'll see this one happen even if we don't want to...

Better Supernatural To Superhero

via: twitter.com Nightwing isn't somebody who's been cast in any DC Films to-date, so we're not exactly comparing our choice of Jared Padalecki to anybody else right now, but wouldn't the lead look perfect in blue and black? He's got the perfect bone structure to tackle such a role, and so long as we won't be seeing an origins story for the character - as Padalecki is too old to take the character on in his younger years - we think he'd be the perfect candidate for Chris McKay's upcoming Nightwing flick. Padalecki's openly said he wants to play the superhero. Still, there will be some who think Nightwing's Romani heritage is one that should be adhered to and acknowledged with casting. It'd certainly bring another layer of inclusivity and diversity into the DCEU!

Wouldn t Work Save It For Fancy Dress

via: deviantart.com [kimauriii] Chloe Grace Moretz may be one of the frontrunners for Batgirl when it comes to fancasting, but we don't think the young star is the right person to take on the role. With the solo Batgirl movie will come a lot of responsibility and the chance to cement her as one of the leading females of the DCEU. Whilst Moretz is undoubtedly a talented young woman, we don't think she has what it takes to carry that weight on her back. That hasn't stopped Moretz from seemingly campaigning for the role of social media a few years back, dressing up as the DC Comics superhero back in 2015 for a costume party! Still, we think she should stick to Hit-Girl rather than Batgirl. This is a role meant for somebody else.

Better I Believe In Michael Fassbender

via: niadd.com Harvey Dent isn't somebody we've seen a multitude of different actors step into the role of on the big screen, and in the current DCEU, the character is yet to find a place. Originally a politician before falling victim of a terrible freak accident and becoming the villainous Two-Face, he's a character that has often been named as a favorite by DC fans. Who better than to bring Dent back to life all over again than Michael Fassbender? The actor's an accomplished one, and he's proven time and again he's more than capable of helping to hold the weight of a meaty character on his back. Even in the failed recent Assassin's Creed movie last year, he showed he had some brilliant acting chops. #MakeDentGreatAgain

Wouldn t Work Funny For All The Wrong Reasons

via: dorkly.com Hugh Laurie has proven he's one of the quickest and wittiest comedians of the modern day. Not only making a name for himself live on stage however, he's played a number of interesting characters in his time, and is most noticeable thanks to his lead role in hit 2004-12 series House. One fan thinks that all of this experience would make him the perfect Clown Prince of Crime, but that's just not something we could ever see working out. Sure, the Joker is someone who likes cracking jokes, but they're on a completely different level to what Laurie is used to! Sure, the actor has shown he can play a compelling villain thanks to his role in The Night Manager, but we're not sure we could take him seriously running around Gotham causing chaos.

Better A Clown Prince Of Crime

via: quirkybyte.com If DC Films have ever wanted to bring a more mature version of Gotham's Clown Prince of Crime to the big screen, they need look no further than the brilliant Willem Dafoe. We've seen him lend his talents to Marvel movies of the past, playing Green Goblin in the 2002 release, so it's about time he jumped ship and came on over to DC. This gorgeous piece of art is enough to convince anybody! The Joker is a mysterious criminal, whose origins have never fully been explained. With the upcoming Joker movie from Todd Phillips coming up, however, we think somebody like Dafoe could provide the perfect opportunity for DC to finally give some solid background to their most renowned character. Some say Joker's origins should never be unveiled, but if anybody can help do it, Dafoe can!

Wouldn t Work No Need For A Replacement

via: pinterest.com Tabitha Lyons may be a great choice for in an alternate universe, but right now the DCEU don't need to fix what isn't broken! Gal Gadot has proven she's one of the best things about the current DC film roster, so to bring in a replacement at this point would certainly leave the fans feeling cold. In fact, we'd go so far as to bet it'd mark the end of the DCEU altogether. When it comes to cosplaying, Tabitha has the whole world in her hands. We wouldn't want to bet on her acting skills though, and to lead a movie such as Wonder Woman would take somebody with a lot of confidence. Gadot is that woman. We hope to see her in the role for many years to come.

Better Make It Happen

via: tumblr.com Another frontrunner when it comes to fans wanting to cast the upcoming Batgirl movie is American actress Anna Kendrick. Having starred in the likes of Pitch Perfect and Into The Woods, she's someone who's never really stepped out into the world of action and superheroes, but this could make for a perfect introduction. She's quirky and demands attention on the big screen. With a personality that the majority of people find infectious, she's got everything it would take to ensure Batgirl is immediately taken seriously in the DCEU. Not only that, but she'd be able to convey the hero having a great time whilst saving Gotham and the wider world. With such a dark DCEU shown to-date, she could provide some much needed comic relief alongside Ezra Miller's Flash.

Wouldn t Work Stick To Wrestling

via: niadd.com Brock Lesnar is really facing some trying times right now. He's currently the Universal Champion in the , but the performer has seen a backlash from fans who think he doesn't show up to the product enough and put on a show. When he does step into the squared circle, he shows off with a flurry of signature moves, but looks repetitive. His act is tired. It's time for his Championship reign to come to an end. With all of that being said, however, he's not a WWE Superstar we'd like to see make the jump from the wrestling ring into the world of Hollywood. Though he's got the frame for Bane, his acting within WWE hasn't shown him to be talented in that area. Maybe he can go back to UFC? Somebody will take him, surely. Just not the DCEU!

Better A Perfect Casting Choice

via: niadd.com Whether you know him from his days in Malcolm in the Middle or his groundbreaking role as mogul Walter White in critically-acclaimed AMC series Breaking Bad, Bryan Cranston is a man now recognizable to the world. We may have seen a unique take on Lex Luthor with Jesse Eisenberg's portrayal in the current DCEU, but the thought of seeing the older, more traditional portrayal of Luthor, with Cranston fronting proceedings is enough to make any DC fan excited! We know he's got the talent to make such a role a great thing for DC fans, but with this brilliant Photoshopped piece, we can see that he'd also look the part. Seeing Cranston brood over some intelligent criminal plans to truly put Batman and his allies to the test would be a beautiful piece of cinema indeed.

Wouldn t Work Never Gonna Happen

via: niadd.com Angelina Jolie is undoubtedly able to make any of the roles she takes on work, but we just cannot see her stepping into the shoes of what many consider to be DC Comics' most captivating character, Selina Kyle. Especially so when this Photoshop fancasting suggests she should have taken over from Michelle Pfeiffer as Catwoman in Tim Burton's Batman Returns! No thank you! Pfeiffer made that role her own. Whilst she was hugely different to the Catwoman we've seen in DC Comics, she did an incredible job of cementing her legacy as the feline villain. Jolie, whilst talented, just wouldn't be able to hold a flame to Pfeiffer's performance. Nobody could, which is why the Catwoman portrayals we've seen since have been so different in comparison.

Better Bring Oliver Queen To The DCEU

via: ultimatecomiccon.com We may have a fantastic actor (Stephen Amell) tackling the role of Oliver Queen, aka Green Arrow on The CW's , but when it comes to the big screen, the hero isn't one that's ever been portrayed! Now long overdue, we hope that in the near future, filmmakers will deem the character interesting enough to bring to the box office. If it happens, Charlie Hunnam is the perfect choice to slip into the Emerald Archer's costume. Though he's not been too enthusiastic about superhero movies in the past, last year saw Hunnam change his mind and open himself up to playing somebody like Green Arrow for cinemagoers. It's hard to deny the actor being able to look like the classic comic book character. Plus, with his back catalogue of acting credits, he's got the talent to back it up.

Wouldn t Work Not Quite Saved By The Bell

via: twitter.com/bosslogic Don't get us wrong, we all loved Drake Bell when he was a part of hit teen series Drake & Josh. In recent years, however, he's shown himself to be a bit of a troublemaker, causing conflict with fans of Justin Bieber for inexplicable reasons, and even making transphobic comments about Caitlyn Jenner following her transition. The latter is something he apologized for, but he's finding it tough to shake the "jerk" persona that now follows him around. Robin is a character that people love. His heart is in the right place and he's forever trying to do the right thing to impress his Dark Knight mentor. Bell wouldn't be able to portray those characteristics convincingly, so any arguments for him to take on the role should simply be thrown out of the window.

Better We ve Got Chills

via: reddit.com Now that he's all done with his take on Professor Charles Xavier in the current X-Men universe, Sir Patrick Stewart is free to jump ship and switch up his role in the superhero movie world entirely! What better way to do that than to go from hero to villain, and join the DCEU after his taste of ? This Photoshop fancasting suggests that he could make an incredible Mr. Freeze, and we've got to agree! It wouldn't take much to better Arnold Schwarzenegger's portrayal of the icy villain in Batman & Robin, but if we had the freedom to choose anybody we liked to take on Freeze, Stewart seems to be the man for the job. He certainly looks the part, and there's not enough good that can be said about his acting ability. This would be a great role to add to his catalogue.

Wouldn t Work Just Doesn t Feel Right

via: reddit.com Though that may look like WWE Superstar John Cena, it's actually former Dexter lead Michael C. Hall in this piece of fancasting that we picked up on Reddit. Though Reverse-Flash is one of the most interesting villains to come from the world of DC Comics, if he does make his way to the big screen in the future, we would hope casting would be a little more exciting than bringing Michael C. Hall on board. After the brilliant portrayal of Reverse-Flash we saw in the , we're not entirely sure we even want to see the character hit the big screen any time soon. Anyone tackling the role would draw comparisons to television's version, and that wouldn't be fair for any actor right now. Put this one on ice for a few years.

Better A Missed Opportunity

via: ultimatecomiccon.com You'd find it hard to locate somebody who wouldn't want to have seen more work from Robin Williams before his untimely passing. The comedian is one of the most loved the world has ever seen, and so when he took his own life back in 2014, the globe fell silent and remembered one of the all-time greats. Wouldn't he have made a fantastic Riddler? This Photoshop fancasting goes a little further than most, suggesting that Williams should have been part of a Tim Burton Batman production. That certainly would have made for interesting viewing. Having Williams' humor clash with Burton's dark Gotham City could have made the biggest impact a superhero film has ever made. Unfortunately, it's something we'll all have to imagine, as we'll never now see it happen.

Wouldn t Work Don t Taint A Legacy

via: twitter.com/bosslogic Christian Bale's portrayal of Bruce Wayne in the Christopher Nolan Dark Knight trilogy is widely renowned as the best Batman performance of all time. His best moments were of course enjoyed opposite the late Heath Ledger's take on in The Dark Knight, but this Photoshop fancasting wonders what might happen if a filmmaker now took the risk in bringing Bale back on board with DC, putting him in the shoes of The Jester. Honestly, this would be a terrible idea. Bale's legacy is firmly cemented, so to pour water on that and mix things up would be a risk not worth taking. As gorgeous as the artwork is above, it's something we should admire without wanting the actor to really step into the role. Expectations would be high, and his performance would never be enough for fans.

Better The Original Choice

via: pinterest.com Don't get us wrong, we think Joel Kinnaman is a fantastic actor and did a great job with the role of Rick Flagg in the movie. But wouldn't it have been something to see the filmmakers' first choice, Tom Hardy taking on the character? Hardy is one of the most adaptable actors we've ever seen, bringing a high level of intensity to every character he ever takes on. He could have made Rick Flag even more interesting in the DCEU. Unfortunately, when Hardy's film The Revenant overran in filming, his schedule just wasn't open enough for him to commit to shooting Suicide Squad. A real shame, but perhaps that means Hardy will be able to jump into the DCEU in an entirely different role in the future. He did do a fantastic Bane in Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight Rises!

Wouldn t Work Not So Flash

via: ultimatecomiccon.com Michael Rosenbaum is one of the most instantly-recognizable voice actors to come from the world of DC. He's taken on voice acting duty with Wally West, Kid Flash, Barry Allen and even Lex Luthor in the past, but when it comes to live-action, we don't think he'd be the right fit for one of the fastest men on the planet. Ezra Miller seems to have Barry Allen down pat, so to replace him with Rosenbaum at this point wouldn't serve anybody well. We also don't think Rosenbaum should take the risk of tarnishing his career within the world of DC in moving to live-action. With such a renowned voice for the animated projects, he'd have to be cautious in moving from inside the recording booth to in front of the cameras.
