30 Dragon Ball Memes Guaranteed To Change Things
These hilarious Dragon Ball memes show off the series' funny side. Akira Toriyama's popular Dragon Ball manga launched a massive franchise that extends beyond the pages of a comic book. Few licenses have transcended mediums quite like Dragon Ball, with multiple anime series and video games. Shame we never got a live-action adaptation. Hollywood, get on that. Dragon Ball Z served as an introductory point to anime for quite a lot of viewers, especially those born in the '80s and '90s. One Piece, Naruto, and Bleach followed in Toriyama's footsteps; although, with the introduction of Dragon Ball Super, the granddaddy of shōnen managed to outlive the latter two. YouTube is littered with scenes and clips from the franchise, and there is even a popular ongoing abridged series created by . What we are trying to say is that Dragon Ball continues to be a really popular brand. Dragon Ball FighterZ was released less than a month ago to fantastic reviews, and Dragon Ball Super is currently in the middle of a gripping tournament arc that harbors back to the anime's golden days. We can never have enough of Toriyama's franchise. Heck, even Dragon Ball GT has a couple of cool moments spread throughout the 64 episodes. As the internet mocks anything with fans, Dragon Ball memes are a dime-a-dozen. Some are touching and inspired, while others poke fun at the anime's less than stellar moments. It is time to take a trip down memory lane. Hopefully, we will not regret it. Here are 30 shameful Dragon Ball memes guaranteed to corrupt your innocence. THEGAMER VIDEO OF THE DAY The Truth About Weakness
Via dragonballfigures.com Nobody knows pain like a Yamcha fan. 95% of Dragon Ball related memes are jokes at the martial artist's expense. Really, he deserves better. Dragon Ball Z and the introduction of Saiyans made him absolute; but, in his own way, Yamcha is still a capable enough fighter. When it comes to humans, he probably ranks among the top 50 strongest combatants on the planet. Who cares if he lost against a saibaman! Most people go through a humiliating experience. They should be allowed to move on from that moment while being given another opportunity to prove themselves. Also, Vegeta is hardly one to talk. Sure, he is strong, but practically every antagonist has used the Prince of Saiyans as a punching bag. The Man In The Mirror
Via pinterest.com The creator of this meme could not have picked a better character to get their point across. If there is one Saiyan who is likely to spend more time admiring themselves in the mirror than actually working out, it would be Vegeta. Obviously, this is assuming he believes that he is on the same level as Goku. Otherwise, it is back to the gravity chamber. Hey, we are not criticizing the man. Vegeta worked hard to achieve Super Saiyan; so, who are we to ridicule his personal victory? It took months of hard work to unlock the transformation, and blonde does kind of suit him. Working out requires dedication and patience, but it is worth it. Also, who has not pretended to be a Super Saiyan after a particularly challenging session at the gym? Krillin On The Hunt
Via Jhallcomics.com While this might be the most obvious joke in the entire Dragon Ball Z canon, there is just something humorous about watching Krillin trying to be smooth and charming. TeamFourStar's abridged series turned the bald-headed one into a hilarious and quotable character that just oozes personality. Krillin played an important role in the original Dragon Ball, before being sidelined in the sequels. His relationship with Android 18 is a highlight of the franchise. Love that breaks through boundaries. Android 18 and Krillin have developed into quite a good double act, with Dragon Ball Super allowing the couple to shine on a handful of occasions. Actually, taking into account that Android 18 has only been alive for a couple of years, she could technically still be classified as a minor. She definitely has not been around for longer than a decade. Talk To The Hand
Via pinterest.com Maybe, we should let Vegeta have this one. He joined the dark side and nearly brought forth the destruction of the planet (again) just to have a fighting chance of defeating Goku in a direct confrontation. Goku could have turned Super Saiyan 3 and owned Vegeta, but that would have given birth to an even more powerful version of Majin Buu. Considering they were pressed for time and this transformation requires more than a few minutes to complete, Super Saiyan 3 was not on the cards when Majin Vegeta challenged Kakarot. Anyway, Vegeta barely managed to scrape a victory against Super Saiyan 2 Goku; so, going even further beyond would have turned their match into a squash. Words Of Wisdom
Via pinterest.com Goku, please, never change. Your childish personality is one of the main reason Dragon Ball is worth watching. Fans who grew up with the English dub might have been surprised by Goku's behavior in the subbed version of Dragon Ball Super. He came across as selfish and juvenile, traits that were present but understated in the previous incarnations. During the localization process, Dragon Ball Z's protagonist received a personality change. This was done so Goku would come across as more of a typical hero, allowing Western audiences to accept him as the central character. Admittedly, Goku's decision-making skills have worsened, but these moments are less surprising for those accustomed to the Japanese version of Dragon Ball Z. In other words, Goku was always an idiot. Time Is Merely A Construct
Via memecenter.com Dragon Ball Z's loose adherence to time might just be the franchise's best-renowned issue. The anime stretched out every arc to the point of breaking, an artistic choice that influenced shows like One Piece and Naruto. This trend continues to be present in Dragon Ball Super, with the Tournament of Power's battle royale only lasting 48 minutes within the anime's universe. It should go without saying, but the arc is more likely to last 48 episodes than 48 minutes. That is a good thing. While Dragon Ball might require a suspension of disbelief, the arcs would be a lot less interesting if they were shown in real time. Dragon Ball Kai speeds up the episodes, but this version is not necessarily an improvement over the original. Nobody wants Dragon Ball Z to be 13 episodes long. Always The Duck Never The Goose
Via pinterest.com Vegeta, take a quick look through this list. Who features in nearly every entry? Need a hint? It is not Goku, Gohan, or Trunks. The Prince of Saiyans is somehow the most beloved and ridiculed character in the entire franchise. Maybe these jokes stem from a place of love? Frieza hurt thousands of people, so, it is not like Vegeta was the only person with a grudge. From the core group, King Vegeta's son was the one who suffered the longest underneath Frieza's thumb. He experienced the most pain at the Emperor's hand, but Vegeta was also a villain. The Prince's redemption arc centered around his ability to put aside his pride and hatred. Taking into account Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection 'F,' this might just be a running gag. Punch Line
via pinterest.com Considering the Z-Fighters tend to drop like flies, King Kai has hardly taught them anything. Like always, Goku gets preferential treatment, with some of his best moves originating from the king of the North Area of Universe 7. King Kai did spend a bit of time teaching Tien, Yamcha, and Chiaotzu; resulting in an improvement in their abilities, but that pales in comparison to Goku's Kaio-ken technique. This meme mocks Yamcha's desire to improve and find a way to help his friends and companions. Honestly, it is kind of sad that the martial artist turned into a laughing stock. Despite being fully aware of his weaknesses, Yamcha continued to try and better himself. His determination should be celebrated and not used as an easy punch line. Battle Of The Century
Via 9gag.com One Punch Man's rise in popularity triggered discussions between different fan bases. Could Saitama defeat Goku in a one-to-one battle? Would it only take one punch? Countless of philosophers have pondered these questions, with the rhetoric resulting in no definitive answer. Just to provide our two cents; of course, Saitama would win. Why? He is a gag character. One Punch Man is a parody of popular shōnen tropes. While the rest of the cast are not omnipotent, Saitama's whole reason for being is his overwhelming strength. He would beat Goku with one punch because that is why he exists. This meme is not suggesting that Saitama gets his power from his lack of hair, just that he is sensitive about his baldness. One Punch Man's protagonist might be overpowered, but he does not take kindly to bald jokes. The Best Of The Worst
Via lionsdenu.com Vegeta's pride has gotten the Z-Fighters into a lot of trouble. From allowing Cell to achieve his perfect form to distracting Goku long enough for Majin Buu to be released, the Prince of Saiyans is a trouble-maker. If, when presented with the chance, Vegeta actually delivered the final blow, he would have knocked out two of Dragon Ball Z's main antagonists. Unfortunately, Vegeta's pride ensured that a bad situation is allowed to get worse. Thankfully, he seems to have finally learned his lesson, but it took a few close-shaves to get to that point. As the meme suggests, Vegeta never really cleans his own mess. To his credit, he did sacrifice himself to try and defeat Majin Buu, but that ended up backfiring. Tough Love
Via quickmeme.com/ Anyone remember when Raditz bested G0ku, Piccolo, and Gohan in a fight? Technically, Kakarot's brother lost, but it required a huge sacrifice from the good guys. Nowadays, Raditz is considered a joke character, someone who was beyond weak, but his power level was higher than Kakarot at the beginning of Dragon Ball Z. If given the chance, Raditz could have gone far. Sadly, he was written out rather quickly. Looking back, this seems like an odd decision. Why introduce Goku's brother just for a handful of episodes? It seems like he would have been a better fit for Vegeta's anti-hero role than the Prince of Saiyans. With an absentee father, Gohan could have turned to his uncle for reinforcement and training. Actually, considering this meme's punch line, maybe it was better that Raditz did not stick around. Understanding Love And Girls
Via dbztextposts.tumblr.com Future Trunks is such a tragic hero. Due to the androids being unwilling to share a planet with humans, the purple haired hero has spent his entire life living in fear. While Gohan provided to be a decent enough mentor, Trunks soon found himself alone and desperately needing help. Due to the state of the planet and the fact that Bulma is the only woman he regularly interacts with, Trunks has more important things on his mind than girls. After using a time machine to travel to an alternate dimension, the character is introduced during the android arc and joins the Z-Fighters in defeating Android 17 and 18. With slightly more time to catch his breath and relax, it makes sense that Trunks would notice the opposite gender. If there is one thing Vegeta's son knows how to use, it would be his sword. Hey, it is self-taught. Please Erase This Gag From Our Memories
Via pinterest.com Dragon Ball GT was almost FINE. No, we are not trying to be hip by defending this generally detested anime. Looking back at the sequel, Toei Animation did get a few things right. The animation was colorful and genuinely fantastic. As the series progressed, the fight scenes improved and the Baby Arc had a unique antagonist who has more depth than nearly any other villain in the Dragon Ball canon. Super Saiyan 4 was Super Saiyan 3 done right. Putting aside the positives, there is just no defending Vegeta's mustache. This entire subplot, if you can call it that, felt like the writers were trying to give the Prince of Saiyans something to do but picked the lamest idea. Any Saiyan with facial hair is destined for a lifetime of defeat. Suspense 101
Via pinterest.com Hard to disagree with this meme. The whole 'we can sense energy' thing tends to only show up whenever it is convenient for the plot. It played a small role in the Namek Saga, although that was more due to Frieza lacking the ability to sense energy, allowing the good guys to avoid a direct confrontation. Otherwise, this skill tends to be brought up whenever the writers want to make it clear that a character received a power boost. After a while, the endless yelling starts to blend together; therefore, Goku shows up to confirm they have gone even further beyond. Thinking back across the series, there are only a couple of moments when they should have known better. Frieza surviving the spirit bomb is probably the most obvious example. Get It The Joke Is That Vegeta Sucks
Via funnyjunk.com Really, Goku? Super Saiyan 3 is hardly a transformation worth mentioning. Despite the great power-up scene and the cool aesthetic, when it comes to actual contributions, this form accomplished less than nothing. Super Saiyan 4 left more of an impact and that transformation is not even canon. Goku had to spend years training as a ghost to be able to unlock this form, and Earth was nearly ruined during the power-up sequence. Super Saiyan 3 is worthless. Whenever Goku brings out this bad-boy, it usually ends with a defeat. Super Saiyan 3's animalistic design looks brilliant and intimidating, but the form failed to lead anywhere particularly exciting. Dragon Ball Super instantly made the transformation obsolete by introducing Super Saiyan Blue. G I N Y U
Via 80skiparty.com Hey, nobody makes fun of the Ginyu Force on our watch! They showed that even secondary villains could be stylish and one-of-a-kind. As a send-off to the popular Super Sentai, the group was a highlight of the earlier episodes of Dragon Ball Z. Until that point, the series largely pushed aside the goofier nature of its predecessor; but, once Ginyu's team arrived on the scene, the comedy was back in full force. Honestly, the village people reference lacks nuance. While they both love to strike a good pose, the disco group's main gimmick was its various costumes. The five members of the Ginyu Force wear the same armor, with their physical appearance being their defining factor. Meme, we are just not following your train of thought. Saiyans Refuse To Knock
Via pinterest.com Dragon Ball Super is best described as a mixed bag. The ongoing Universe Survival Arc is and continues to be a great deal of fun, but it might just be the only storyline that knocks it out of the park. The Goku Black Arc has a great set-up, a couple of memorable encounters, but the rushed ending left a negative final impression. Putting aside the anime's overall quality, Super has done right by Vegeta. The Prince of Saiyans is the best Saiyan. As Goku continues to abandon his humanity in order to find better opponents to fight, Vegeta has embraced it. The easily-angered Saiyan was even willing to miss out on a large-scale tournament to stay at home with his family. Those are some mighty big steps for Vegeta. For the meme, Vegeta really has nothing to worry about... Riddle Me This
Via flashlarevista.com Well, Chi-Chi does spend a lot of time by herself. Still, it is hard to deny that Gohan and Goten are Goku's children. The latter is practically his father's spitting image and Goku only really started neglecting his family once Raditz arrived at the beginning of Dragon Ball Z. Human Goku was an okay dad. Dragon Ball Super turned Goku into a cartoon. Okay, he was always animated and naive, but he seemed to understand how people function. Dragon Ball Z's Goku would never state that he does not know how to kiss his wife. We would believe that he feels uncomfortable doing it, but anything more and you have to start to wonder whether Goku was mentally capable of getting married. Best Of Both Worlds
Via knowyourmeme.com Considering that Man of Steel is the best Dragon Ball Z film we are likely to ever get, both of these pictures fit DC. Marvel's movies are colorful and packed with humor, characteristics that are also present in Dragon Ball, but the fight scenes are closer to what Superman and friends have delivered in recent years. Aesthetically, Goku Black's dark outlook would be a perfect fit for a future Justice League flick; although, Marvel's movies are a lot more reliable. This meme just makes us yearn for a day when Dragon Ball gets a proper high-quality live-action adaptation. When compared to Dragonball: Evolution, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Iron Man 2 are Oscar-worthy. Heck, that disaster makes Howard the Duck look like a masterpiece. Closer Than Family
Via pinterest.com Goku and Vegeta's relationship is the cornerstone of Dragon Ball. Think about it, which other couple has received anywhere near as much screen-time as these frenemies? They started as mortal enemies before becoming rivals. As the series progressed, that passion slowly turned into friendship and respect. Okay - friends might be an exaggeration. Goku probably sees Vegeta as a sparring partner or companion, while the prideful Saiyan uses Kakarot as a motivation tool to continuously improve himself. Their relationship and interactions are genuinely interesting to witness, as it can definitely be described as complicated. Vegeta seems to enjoy watching Goku lose, but he wants to be the only person capable of defeating him.
