Resident Evil Resistance will let players control Alex Wesker and Ozwell Spencer as masterminds. Capcom has unveiled a bunch of new info for , the multiplayer-focused mode coming with . The biggest announcement has to be the inclusion of Alex Wesker and Ozwell Spencer as playable masterminds. Masterminds are the role one player will assume when starting a match and they'll be able to spawn zombies, create distractions, lock doors, and cause all kinds of havoc. To my knowledge, the only time Ozwell has been seen in a game is Resident Evil 5. The mysterious figure is the reason the entire series exists. He is the owner of the eponymous Spencer Mansion and was the founder/CEO of Umbrella Corporation before its demise. Having him present in the game is a cool nod to the series' history. Having close ties to the Wesker project, she later becomes an important figure in Resident Evil lore when Albert Wesker is "killed." Resistance is non-canon, but it's not hard to see this as her starting point for turning down a darker path. When the outbreak happened, the park was abandoned and left for dead. Naturally, this became a breeding ground for the undead and is home to many horrors. It should make for a satisfyingly spooky setting for multiplayer action. It may be a little disappointing that Mercenaries won't be returning in Resident Evil 3, but Resistance seems to be an okay replacement. With its non-canon status allowing for characters from various different parts of the timeline, we could see a lot of great references here.
