THQ Nordic To Unveil Two Beloved Franchise Titles At E3

THQ Nordic has two mystery games planned for E3, one "galactically beloved game" and one "new vision of a beloved franchise." via themarysue.com is less than a month away now and more details about what to expect are starting to leak out. Companies have begun to reveal their cryptic E3 floor plans and today The plans show two sections for unannounced games, numbered simply 1 and 2. While the titles themselves reveal nothing, the brief information underneath gives us more of a clue. Game 1 is said to be “the long-awaited return of a galactically beloved game/franchise” while Game 2 is “a new vision of a beloved game/franchise.” Both titles are said to have a hands-off demo available. via gamingbolt.com THQ Nordic has the rights to quite a few franchises which could fit the bill. The company took the name of THQ Studios, which is now no more, and with it the rights to many of their published titles. They’ve also picked up a variety of other franchises, including last year's acquisition of TimeSplitters and Second Sight, through Koch Media. THEGAMER VIDEO OF THE DAY The company has previously remastered several games from the THQ catalogue, including Red Faction. They've also continued other series, like Darksiders. So, which games could they be about to announce? A Destroy All Humans! game is surely in the running for the long-awaited and galactically loved title. The open world action-adventure series takes place mostly on Earth but features a cast of aliens. The franchise currently comprises 4 games, with the last one being released back in December of 2008. While the later games in the series pulled in incredibly mediocre scores from critics, the first two games performed much better and form a solid base to build upon. via youtube.com The second title has a couple of potential candidates. The front runner appears to be TimeSplitters, the first person shooter series which gave us three well received games back in the early to mid 2000’s. The franchise was shelved after the third title but THQ Nordic purchased the rights to it in August of last year. It would make total sense for this to be the beloved franchise in question. The other contender for this spot is the Alone In The Dark series; which gave us 6 games, the last of which was released in 2015. While earlier games were better received, the last instalment was a critical flop, making TimeSplitters a more likely candidate for the new vision. Keep an eye on THQ Nordic’s announcements from E3 to find out if these predictions are correct. E3 takes place on June 11-13.
