Ninja s Spot On Streamers And Their Audience Are Ruining Fortnite With Mindless Negativity
Ninja believes influencers who make a gimmick out of trashing things are ruining Fortnite by fanning the flames of hate amongst their audience. Via: The Verge Negativity? In the gaming community? Come on, , that’s a little far-fetch… oh, wait. Now, there’s no denying that has been a phenomenal success story. Originally, its battle royale component was just a side note, but it became so much more than that. The game single-handedly popularised the genre for many of us, and has done fantastically well on every format it’s been ported to (which is all of them). Heck, soon after appearing there. It’s not all sunshine and rainbows for Fortnite, though. For one thing, it’s had the likes of snapping at its heels for some time now (even if that game is and other problems). For another, it has that problem faced by just about everything popular ever: some members of the fanbase are going to be pretty darn terrible and give everyone else a bad name. That’s not to say that he’s afraid to criticize the game himself (as proved), but he’s recently struck back against the needlessly negative streamers he feels are ruining the game. There’s an important distinction between pointing out legitimate issues with a title you’re enjoying and simply lambasting it for the sake of it. Particularly when you have a fanbase whose opinions you can influence, as Ninja himself knows all too well. “I’m enjoying the game,” he stated in “I guarantee there are people who are loving this season. But if they watch their favorite broadcaster or YouTuber complaining about the game, they might lose interest in it.” While there’s no denying that he’s been a bit of a negative Nancy towards Fortnite himself at times, he certainly has a point here. Big streamers and broadcasters are called 'influencers' for a reason, and they also have a bit of an obligation in that regard. Things are negative enough in this industry, without some of the biggest players around fanning the flames.
