10 Cool Things We Want To See In Star Wars Battlefront II
Star Wars: Battlefront 2 is likely nearing the end of its support but before it takes a final bow, here's a wish list of features we want in the game. Who would have thought that DICE could pull back from the precipice and deliver one truly fantastic game? After all, the initial release was plagued with bugs, glitches and the infamous loot box system, which triggered a massive backlash against the game. Since that time, DICE has been showering the game with love in an attempt to turn things around. The addition of a four-player co-op mode (that's actually quite fun) has been a major boost to the game. Yesterday's recent update added original trilogy content to co-op mode, which has been a total blast to play! As Battlefront II is no doubt nearing the end of its lifespan in terms of support, here's 10 things we'd love to see DICE implement before they move on to their next project. THEGAMER VIDEO OF THE DAY MORE CO-OP MODES BESIDES CAPTURE POINTS
Yes, co-op is based primarily around attacking or defending capture points in a tug-of-war style system. It's not a bad way to play, and it certainly lends itself to some strategy, but the inclusion of other modes would be nice. We'd like to see an all-out , plus the addition of ship-based co-op battles for a little more variety. So far, the ship-based combat has been the most neglected, but it could certainly find new life in the co-op system. MORE CHARACTER SKINS
While certain characters like Boba Fett aren't big on spicing up their wardrobe, there are plenty of other characters who do. Third-party mods have allowed players to install their own custom skins, but we'd prefer official variations. (to name a few) need some new threads, especially since all of them have sported canon. Vader's been gravely wounded by Ahsoka, Maul has gone shirtless, and Palpatine's red Senate robes should make a comeback. MORE LEVELS TO FIGHT IN
For the most part, Battlefront II manages to cover many of the bases in terms of playable levels, but we're still missing a lot of scenes from the films that could work. Jabba's Sail Barge and the Sarlacc Pit, the Gungan battle against the droid army on Naboo, and battles on Coruscant could all serve as excellent backdrops for battle. OLD REPUBLIC CONTENT
This one might never see the light of day, but it would be quite exciting to see content and characters from The Old Republic series of games get added to Battlefront II. There's a wealth of options in terms of battlegrounds, characters and vehicles to add into the mix. If this content doesn't make it into Battlefront II, then perhaps DICE will take note and introduce some of it into Battlefront III, if the day ever comes. MORE EWOK-STYLE MODES
Ewok Hunt is one of the most surprisingly entertaining and fun modes that Battlefront II has ever offered players. The playstyle is unique and very challenging, and the is blood-pumping and hilarious at the same time. This mode proves that there's room for more of the same approach. It would be nice to see a Jedi or Droid Hunt mode that offers up a similar level of challenge and ingenuity to keep the game fresh. MORE SHIPS FOR SPACE BASED COMBAT
There are so many ships in the universe, but Battlefront II focuses only on a select few. With the inclusion of more space-based levels, the field is ripe to add more ships from the films and other series. We still don't see a Lambda shuttle, a Radiant VII or a B-Wing in Battlefront II, nor have we seen anything Mandalorian related like the Razor Crest. We'd like it if DICE took a page from ground-based combat scenarios as well, such as the ability to take temporary control of AT-AT walkers, and adopt that mechanic for say, control of a Star Destroyer. MANDALORIAN CONTENT
Speaking of the Razor Crest, Battlefront II definitely needs some straight-up Mandalorian characters in the game. This could be a bit problematic given that the game focuses on conflicts from specific time periods in the Star Wars universe, but a Mandalorian focused addition could take the form of an Ewok Hunt-style derivative. Perhaps Mando and friends could engage in some type of conflict between the Imperial Remnant and for control of key checkpoints, or more importantly, Baby Yoda himself! Also, Baby Yoda as a playable character? Tempting, but probably unwise given that nobody in their right mind wants to see him get shot to ribbons. THE DARKSABER
There's a lot of weapons in Battlefront II, but no Darksaber to speak of...yet. Many have wielded this item, most notably Darth Maul in his attempt to gain control over the Mandalorians. The Darksaber would be one truly epic unlock that could be wielded by any Jedi or Sith master. Sure, it might break immersion a bit to see Count Dooku wielding the blade, but Battlefront II is one big bag of "what-if" scenarios anyways, so where's the harm? It would need to be a very difficult item to unlock, if for nothing else than extreme bragging rights during your next match. MORE HERO BALANCE
Recently, got a major nerf in order to tone down his bone-crushing effectiveness on the battlefield. This type of balancing act is definitely still needed for particular characters such as Bossk, Vader and Palpatine, to name a few. Also, it would be nice to see certain special attacks jettisoned in favor of better ones. For instance, Count Dooku is still primarily a duelist, but he's rubbish against a pack of regular opponents and can quickly get overwhelmed. His force lightning attack is a small benefit, but when playing next to a character wielding Darth Maul, his shortcomings stand out like Jar Jar Binks. STILL MISSING SOME HEROES
It's surprising that DICE hasn't yet included some into Battlefront II. By this point, it would be natural to see Mace Windu, Padmé, Ahsoka, Jango Fett and Poe Dameron as playable characters. Since the Hero combat is starting to become a tad stale, there's never been a better time to inject a few new faces into the mix. Imagine being able to dual-wield two lightsabers as Asajj Ventress!
