Classic WoW 15 Items Guaranteed To Increase In Value In Later Phases

Some items in Classic WoW may take a while to turn a profit, but they're definitely worth the wait. These items in particular will increase in value. When opened its doors again 15 years after its initial release, gamers rejoiced at the opportunity to return home. Many felt as though Battle For Azeroth fell flat, and wanted to relive the blissful nostalgia of the past. World of Warcraft with its, unique class identities, and the giant open world created lifetime devotees to the Blizzard brand. As Classic WoW is a recreation instead of a new experience, the game is considered solved. There are mathematically correct talents to choose for optimal DPS, addons to help players speed through every quest, and every raid tier being completed with blazing speed. As a result, we know when every crafting in-game will be released and thus can predict the flow of the economy. Time is money, friend, so here is a quick list of items that will increase in value in later phases. Updated August 4th, 2020 by Bailey Fisli: With Phase 4 past and Phase 5 recently released, now is the ideal time to begin investing for Phase 6 and the release of Naxxramas. With that in mind, several new entries have been added to reflect their investment potential. Even if you aren't an avid Auction House goblin, these items are sure to be necessary for personal use. Arcanite Bar

After reaching their prices in June, Arcanite bars have seen an overall downwards trend in prices for both US and EU servers (except a spike at the beginning of this month for the EU - no doubt due to the new Titanic Leggings pattern). This is likely because their desirability has decreased with more and more tanks finally completing their Thunderfuries. Phase 6, just like Phase 5, will introduce more reasons to collect these. Tier 3 doesn't just drop in raids like Tier 1 and Tier 2 have. To actually get the gear, players need to turn in tokens and a hefty amount of expensive materials. Warriors will each need 20 Arcanite Bars total, Hunters will need 17, Rogues will need 5, Paladins will need 20, and Shamans will need 17. Unlike with consumables, which many players are hoarding religiously, how many people are already thinking about their tier quests? There will be a surge in demand once players finally begin clearing the Dread Citadel.

Cured Rugged Hide

This material, which has an interesting dilemma of having than the demand requires, currently sits around 23-26 gold each. What will happen when the demand finally rises? Just like Arcanite Bars, Cured Rugged Hide is required in large amounts for the Tier 3 set quest turn-ins. Mages will need 6 total, Warriors will need 19, Hunters will need 18, Priests will need 6, Rogues will need 42, Druids will need 36, Warlocks will need 6, Paladins will need 15, and Shamans will need 15 as well. Cured Rugged Leather holds this distinction of being the only crafted material required for every single class in the game. It will increase the demand dramatically, and as a result, will also likely increase the price.

Fused Wiring

Fused wiring has always been useful, as it's a necessary ingredient to craft the Field Repair Bot 74A. The reason we suspect this will become more valuable is not that Phase 6 adds a new recipe, but rather that Repair Bots will see more use. Outside of perhaps a Hunter dropping one down during Nefarian to repair their bow, how many Repair Bots do you actually see? Most decent raid guilds can clear current content either with no wipes or very few at all. There's hardly ever a need to immediately fix your gear when you can just wait till afterward to go to Ironforge. More difficult and longer raids will have more people begging for on the spot repairs.

Chimaerok Tenderloin

The tenderloins released in Phase 5 alongside the Scepter of the Shifting Sands Quest as part of a requirement for the Isle of Dread Quest for Alliance. However, outside of that niche use, they will see increased value when players finally get the recipe for Dirge's Kickin' Chimaerok Chops. This is the best in slot food for tanks or anyone searching for increased survivability. Eating this flaming hot barbeque buffs you for 25 stamina. Raiders love their buffs. Better survivability will just become more and more valuable as the game progresses.

Grave Moss

Grave Moss is one of those weird ingredients that sees almost throughout the months, just with huge seemingly random spikes. The spikes likely correlate with raid content and when guilds are trying to perform well on (at the moment) Nefarian. Naxxramas will have several more bosses that deal heavy shadow damage (and so does Ahn'Qiraj for that matter). Grave Moss is required to make shadow oil, and thus Greater Shadow Protection Potions. We can only guess as to what the value of these herbs will end up being, but they'll likely spike when guilds reach Loatheb for the first couple of times.

Ironweb Spider Silk

Ironweb Spider Silk, along with the other silks in-game, is one of those odds and ends items that most people pick up during questing or dungeons and either throw away or vendor. Although it does have its uses in crafting in Phase 3 (most notably the Corehound Belt), its usefulness only ramps up in later phases. With the introduction of Zul'Gurub in Phase 4, the Bloodvine Set becomes available to tailors. Almost every DPS caster will want to get their hands on this due to the increased chance to hit and crit. The three set requires a total of 8 Ironweb Spider Silks. That may not seem like a lot, but when every mage and warlock on the server (including alts) rush to the Auction House so they can get their armor right away, there's serious potential to capitalize on the increased demand. Plus, every warlock will need at least 4 more of these to create their epic soul shard bag. Since many will have the raid materials (core leather and bloodvine) provided to them by their guilds, it's unlikely every warlock will be satisfied to stop at one. The more bags being made, the more potential profit.

Firebloom

Firebloom is one of those many herbs that seem worthless. Most sell on the Auction House for mere silver. This will change by Phase 5. Currently, the meta requires mages to spec into frost, as the majority of raid encounters feature enemies with fire immunities/resistances. At the release of Ahn'Qiraj, the max spec will shift to favor fire mages. To accompany this, Phase 5 also sees the release of a new alchemy recipe: the Elixir of Greater Fire Power. Raiders burn through consumables like they're water, and so it can be expected that both of the materials required (Firebloom and Fire Oil) will spike in price during Phase 5. Even in the current phase, Wintersbite (the material for Elixir of Frost Power) costs about 1 gold each on many servers. That only gives mages +15 to frost damage compared to the +40 of the Greater Fire Power.

Large Brilliant Shard

Although Large Brilliant Shards are quite common due to their guaranteed drop chance from disenchanting level 51+ blue items, their uses are somewhat limited currently. With limited exceptions, most enchants only require 2-4 shards. As they are relatively common, the price of these is lower than that of Greater Eternal Essences. However, later phases add more uses for these that will help to increase their value. Brilliant Mana Oil is coming in Phase 4. This is the first caster weapon oil we have seen in Classic: offering 12 mp5 and +25 healing for 30 minutes. It only has 5 charges, meaning that after 2 and a half hours, another needs to be made. Each oil requires 2 shards, increasing the demand. Phase 5 will also bring about epic new glove , requiring 6-10 shards.

Elemental Earth

On many servers, Elemental Earth has already seen a huge price leap. With the release of Blackwing Lair, many guilds are finding they need to use their Field Repair Bots and Elemental Sharpening Stones. However, the price is likely to continue rising into Phase 5. With the release of Ahn'Qiraj comes to infamous Princess Huhuran. Her poison bolt volley hits like a truck, requiring raiders to have a lot of Nature Resistance. The Greater Nature Protection Potion requires 1 Dreamfoil and 1 Elemental Earth each. It can be an expensive consumable to make already, but when Phase 5 hits and guilds start needing more Nature Resistance to progress, prices are sure to climb even higher.

Elemental Water

Hoarding Elemental Water is an investment for the long-run. The item won't see its peak usefulness till Phase 6 with the release of Naxxramas. Just like with Nature Resistance for Ahn'Qiraj, Frost Resistance will be of the utmost importance for Sapphiron and Kel'Thuzad specifically. The Greater Frost Protection Potion requires 1 Dreamfoil and 1 Elemental Water each, and guilds fighting the final bosses will need to stockpile many. It is also worth noting that the Greater Nature Protection and Greater Shadow Protection potions will likely both remain expensive, as other fights in the raid are made much easier with them.

Purple Lotus

In Phase 4 and Phase 5, Purple Lotus is given a bit more importance as a reagent in crafting recipes. They likely won't surge in value too much, as they're fairly commonly found in ruins such as the ones in Azshara (pictured above). There are only two useful crafting recipes in which they feature: the Brilliant Mana Oil and the Cenarion Herb Bag. The tailoring pattern can be obtained when reaching friendly with the Cenarion Circle, meaning it will likely become abundant quickly. However, it may be worth collecting the Purple Lotus not to resell them specifically, but for creating Brilliant Mana Oil and up charging for the time spent crafting.

Living Essence

While Living Essence is no doubt useful right now for enchanting a weapon with Healing Power or crafting Hide of the Wild, Phase 5 will probably be the highlight in its lifecycle. In Ahn'Qiraj, having a high unbuffed Nature Resistance may be more important than a large stock of potions. Living Essence is a required material in nearly all crafted resistance gear. Some notable sets include the Sylvan gear for cloth-wearers and the Ironvine for plate. Each piece provides about +15-30 Nature Resistance alone.

Essence of Water

Essence of Water, like Living Essence, is used in those important healing items currently in-game along with the Robe of the Archmage and some respectable +frost damage greens. However, it will be even more useful come Phase 6. Two essences are required in every major crafted frost resistance armor pieces coming along with Naxxramas. The Polar, Icebane, and Icy Scale armor sets are all going to be pretty pricy. In addition to needing essences of water, they all also require Frozen Runes which can only be obtained inside Classic's most difficult raid.

Black Lotus

It's almost unfathomable that Black Lotus could increase any more than it already has. After raising nearly 60 gold since launch on some servers, many players are questioning if their value will ever decrease. The answer is likely not until the Burning Crusade (or Classic+?). The supply of the herb will always remain consistent with only 4 spawning in the world roughly every hour. The demand, however, will only increase with raids becoming more difficult. Most players don't need flasks to complete Molten Core, Onyxia's Lair, or even Blackwing Lair. Many people only bring flasks to raid to have competitive DPS or HPS numbers. Come Phase 5 and Phase 6, those who haven't practiced in private servers may find themselves relying more heavily on consumables than ever before.

Mooncloth

Due to the four day cooldown on crafting Mooncloth, the fabric has always been somewhat expensive. Currently, most of it finds its way into either 16-slot bags or the Truefaith Vestments. However, the Phase 4 Bloodvine Set requires 3-4 pieces each to craft. The 24 slot herb bag, Satchel of Cenarius, also requires 2 Mooncloth. Finally, the Desecrated tokens for Priests, Mages, and Warlocks require some mooncloth, along with nexus crystals and wartorn cloth scraps to turn into that iconic Naxxramas tier.
