THEGAMER VIDEO OF THE DAY Use the Force
It seems that is canon within the Far Cry universe. Jason makes a reference to an iconic line from the original trilogy in one of the main missions. In "Betting Against the House," Riley is attempting to pilot a helicopter but exclaims he does not know how. Jason replies with "use the force" almost instantly. This is a reference to the end of Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope when Obi-Wan is telling Luke to use the force in order to destroy the Death Star. It's a nice nod to one of the largest pop-culture icons of this generation. Far Cry 2 Diamonds
Far Cry 3 has a few references to Far Cry 2, Ubisoft's most unforgiving Far Cry entry to date. While it doesn't mention how annoying Malaria is, it does utilize that game's obsession with diamonds. Rarely, players can find diamonds as currency from pirates. There is also a reference to the game through a side mission. In it, players must use the handheld GPS from Far Cry 2—only the screen is cracked and doesn't work—to complete an objective. That GPS was used in Far Cry 2 to find and collect diamonds. Portal
There are plenty of areas the player must climb and jump across in Far Cry 3. Its massive world scope means players will spend dozens of hours simply exploring the two islands. One of the Lost Expedition locations includes a Rocket Chamber the player must navigate across. When players are climbing up a section of it, Jason will mention his desire to have a portal. This is a reference to the fantastic puzzle game from , where players must use a portal gun to progress through various test chambers to hopefully escape. Dune Spice
Far Cry 3 contains collectibles players can find to learn more about the game world and its various inhabitants. These collectibles are typically Memory Cards you can find throughout the two islands. One of mentions how to synthesize a unique drug called Spice. While that doesn't seem to reference anything, one of the side effects mentioned in the Card is interstellar travel. This is a nod to the book Dune, which contained a drug with the same name that has the same effect. Run Forrest run
Vaas is one of the main antagonists in Far Cry 3, constantly harassing Jason with his insane speeches and schizophrenic demeanor. You are never sure what he's going to say next, which is why he's so beloved by the fanbase. One of the first missions involves Jason trying to escape the island with his brother. Unfortunately, Vaas gets to him before Jason can and kills him. When Jason tries to escape, Vaas exclaims "Run, Forrest, run!" This is a reference to the famous line spoken in Forrest Gump. Would you kindly
Lost Expedition missions are ripe for easter eggs because of their somewhat disconnected nature from the rest of the game. Prototype Labs has one of the best. When in this Lost Expedition, Jason has to throw a switch at one point to progress through the mission. Showing his frustration, Jason says "would you kindly activate?" This doesn't seem significant, but this is a reference to a famous line in . "Would you kindly" is stated many times throughout that game and leads to one of the most shocking plot twists in any video game. Say Hi to the Internet
via: microsoft.com This easter egg isn't referencing another video game series or any series really. Say Hi to the Internet is an achievement players can get that references a promotional video for Far Cry 3 before it released. Heading to a certain shoreline on the map will show two corpses hanging on a nearby tree with a man's head protruding through the sand, the rest of his body buried in the shoreline. This references both The Far Cry Experience promotional video and the game's cover art. The Simpsons Reference
Via simpsonsworld.com Similar to Far Cry 2 diamonds, players can find various unique items on dead pirates throughout their adventures. One of them is a ripped teddy bear you can sell for cash. This teddy bear is special, however. Its description mentions it is torn at the seams and has a label reading "Bo B-" on it. Mr. Burns has a childhood bear named Bo Bo in The Simpsons television series, likely what this Far Cry item is referencing. How his bear is a mystery, but its a fun acknowledgment of one of the most influential TV shows ever produced. Jurrasic Park
When the player enters the second island in Far Cry 3, they might notice a reference to Jurrasic Park. Sometimes, the Privateers of the island will mention they aren't on a dinosaur island, at least. This easter egg can be interpreted in two different ways. The first interpretation is it's referencing Jurrasic Park and its island full of dinosaurs. Alternatively, you can also view this as a tease for Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon, the standalone DLC for Far Cry 3 that contained a unique island and dinosaurs that shot lasers from their eyes. Pieces of Eden
One of the Lost Expedition levels the player can explore includes logos for Abstergo, one of the corporations present within the present setting in the games. This easter egg goes even further by referencing pieces of Eden in a letter players can find on the same level. The letter also gives an elevator code, reading out as 122112. This is a reference to 12/21/12 when the Apocalypse is supposed to occur in the Assassin's Creed universe, which in of itself is a reference to the Mayan calender's prediction of the end of the world.
