Path Of Exile Top 10 Tips To Survive Metamorph League
All the tips and tricks you need to get through Path of Exile's Metamorph League. has recently released one of its largest expansions yet. Conquerors of the Atlas completely overhauls the endgame systems by adding new bosses to slay, bringing with it new loot and incentives to do harder content. With this new expansion, Path of Exile easily has one of the of any video game currently available. Conquerors of the Atlas also debuted a temporary challenge league called Metamorph. This league allows players to use organs from slain monsters to create terrifying bosses that provide awesome rewards. The challenge introduced from these monsters—and the Conquerors expansion in general—make it rather difficult for some players to enjoy. Here are 10 tips to help you survive in the Metamorph league. THEGAMER VIDEO OF THE DAY Get Chaos Resistance
One of the first things you'll notice when you fight Metamorphs is how deadly they are. Some will instantly kill you while others aren't nearly as scary. This is likely because you do not have high Chaos Resistance. Plenty of Metamorph bosses use Chaos damage in their attacks, either inflicting Poison or creating Desecrated Ground when they die. Unless you run Chaos Inncoluation, you need to gain Chaos Resistance on your gear or these things will instantly kill you. Alternatively, you can check every organ for this mod and choose not to use it but that can be rather time-consuming. Co-op
While this might seem somewhat obvious, playing with friends can potentially help make content easier. As long as you and your friends have builds that can handle themselves, you might have an easier time killing bosses. When you play in co-op, Path of Exile will increase the quantity of loot that monsters drop when slain. Additionally, monsters get tougher to kill. This can present a problem if you have a very weak build, but otherwise running with multiple players will typically make the game easier rather than harder. If you want the most loot out of every map, party play is the way to go. Craft Gear
You might not be able to find items you need while playing Path of Exile, but thankfully you can craft modifiers onto items you are wearing, potentially your build is having. Need more life on your character? Craft life on your gear. Does your weapon need a flat physical damage roll to deal more damage? Craft it! Sometimes, all your items need is a crafted modifier on it rather than a full replacement. This goes for the endgame as well, with master mods allowing players to craft some extremely powerful items, rivaling Ascendency passives! Use Your Flasks
Do not underestimate how powerful your flasks are in Path of Exile. Life flasks provide lots of regeneration quickly, but utility flasks can provide plenty of defensives for your character. Granite flasks can grant you plenty of armor to mitigate physical damage, while Jade flasks can provide needed evasion to dodge attacks. Stibnite flasks can even blind enemies that are nearby, halving their chance to hit you. Unlike like , flasks in Path of Exile recharge based on killing enemies, so if you kill fast enough you can potentially have these strong buffs always active. Get Defensive Passives
The passive tree, which is more of a passive forest, is the first thing many players will see when they start the game. Despite how large it is, pathing around it is rather simple. All you need to do is grab bonuses that would benefit your character. If you are frequently getting one-shot, consider grabbing life or energy shield passives in your tree. If your damage is not high enough to kill enemies quickly, consider grabbing damage bonuses based on the weapon, spell, or element you are using to kill enemies. In general, the more life you grab from the tree, the stronger the life granted from your gear will be—increasing your overall health pool substantially. Use Minions
Blight league introduced plenty of buffs to summoner characters, overhauling Ascendancies like the Guardian and Necromancer. In addition, plenty of minion gems got buffs as well. Skeletons, in particular, got a massive damage increase. Zombies are incredibly tanky when built properly, and using multiple Specters is less gear reliant now. If you need some breathing room when fighting Metamorphs, consider getting a Raise Zombie gem with Meat Shield as a support gem. For damage, Skeletons are some of the best minions you can use. They gain more damage from gems than normal, are easy to gear for, and can be used as early as Act 1. If you need a good starting build this league, consider a Necromancer summoner. Check Build Guides
Speaking of builds, plenty of build guides exist on the Path of Exile forums and the subreddit. You can also check sites like to see what skills and items most players are using. From looking at poe.ninja, we can see that most players are playing Necromancers this league, with the most used skills being Summon Skeletons and Cyclone. From there, you can look up Summon Skeletons on the PoE forums to find a build that works. Alternatively, you can look for a skill that sounds fun to you and find a build for it. After all, what's the point in using the best build when it's no fun? It's amazing how a can offer this much build variety, rivaling most AAA releases. Awakening Level
The Metamorph league was also released with the Conquerors of the Atlas expansion, overhauling the Atlas progression system and Mapping in general—PoE's endgame progression system. One new addition is the inclusion of Awakening Levels on your Atlas. This is a global difficulty modifier that increases the effect of all bonuses on Maps, both good and bad. In addition, enemy health is increased and damage they deal is amplified. If you are having a hard time killing high-level enemies in the endgame, you might want to lower your Awakening Level. This can be reduced by reducing the amount of fully socketed regions you have on your Atlas. Trade
Of course, this next suggestion won't apply to those of you who are playing in Solo Self Found, or SSF for short. Regardless, this is good advice to follow if you play in a trade league. Trade. Seriously, sell items and buy things you need. If you need currency, flip items on the market by buying items for cheap and selling them for more than you bought them for. If you can't get a specific Unique to drop for your build, buy it. Sell any good gear you don't need to make currency and use it to craft amazing items for your builds. Check Your Organs
No, not your literal organs. Metamorphs are created off of eyes, brain, heart, liver, and lungs that you scavenge off of mobs you kill. These organs all come with unique modifiers on their rewards and the boss itself. The reward type on each organ is not based on the rarity of the organ. In other words, check every organ before creating a boss. White organs are just as likely to come with a 6-link armor piece as unique organs are. The rarity of the organ does determine the difficulty of the fight, however. Fight a hard enough Metamorph and you get an organ as an actual item, capable of creating a boss in Tane's Laboratory if you get each organ type. The Metamorphs from his lab can drop valuable items, so be sure to create Metamorph bosses in his lab when you have enough organs to do so.
