Throwback Thursday: Isaiah Thomas' buzzer-beater to beat Arizona NCAA.com
CHAMPS
PRESENTED BY Unless you’ve had your head in a hole in the sand lately, you might be aware that the Boston Celtics’ Isaiah Thomas is playing some darn good basketball right now. The 5-9 guard lit up the Washington Wizards for 53 points in Game 2 of the teams’ second-round playoff game Tuesday night, right after dropping 33 points and 9 assists in Game 1 of the series. For some, Thomas’ incredible season this year might have seemingly come out of nowhere. Not for Washington Huskies fans. Reddit user dunedog223 found an old video of Thomas back in his days as a Husky, when Mr. Fourth Quarter nailed a beautiful step-back buzzer-beater in overtime to down Arizona 77-75 in the 2011 Pac-10 Tournament championship. The call — by the peerless Gus Johnson — is almost as chills-inducing as the shot, and Johnson’s postgame decree would prove more prescient than he could have imagined at the time. Isaiah Thomas is “COLD. BLOODED.” Reminisce for yourself:
