This New Handheld SNES Is A Classy Fashion Accessory

The Hyperkin Supaboy is one of the fancier retro gaming handhelds around. via Hyperkin SupaBoy BlackGold This might just be the most stylish way to get into we've ever seen. Just yesterday, game peripheral manufacturer Hyperkin announced details for its SupaBoy BlackGold Portable Pocket Console and it looks amazing. A portable console that can play full-size SNES cartridges, this refresh of a previous device features a stylish paint job that'll make all of your enthusiast friends blush. Based out of Los Angeles, California, Hyperkin has been for quite some time now. With its business usually focused on clone consoles that let people play older games on newer televisions, it looks as if the company is turning toward the handheld market. THEGAMER VIDEO OF THE DAY A retrofit of its original SupaBoy portable console, the BlackGold version tosses the old Super Nintendo color scheme of white on grey for a far more fashionable gold on black. The multi-colored buttons are now just a faint gold that matches the directional pad, and the system buttons are all matching black tones. It's almost regal in appearance. via Hyperkin This thing is way sexier than the original and the plastic looks like it's a lot more durable too. We can't say for certain if the BlackGold console is actually tougher than the original, but it definitely wins points for style. You could wear this around your neck like Flavor Flav and no one would bat an eye. Making use of your old cartridges is simple. You just slot them into the top of the device like you're using original hardware and power the SupaBoy on. Since the button locations are mostly a match for Nintendo's controller, there should be no issue with picking up your favorite games again. The device even allows you to plug in original controllers, should you wish. That feature is in service of an AV output that turns the SupaBoy into a more traditional home console -or Sega Nomad pretender-. Just plug in the included AV cables, hook some controllers up, and you're now reliving the golden days. A stereo jack, 4:3 or 16:9 aspect ratio switch, and 10 hours of battery life round out the SupaBoy GlackGold's offerings. MSRP is $99.99 on Hyperkin's or on . It might be a little late to get one for Christmas, but you can certainly start off the new year right with one of these babies. Source: ,
