Ys: Memories of Celceta was rated as one of the best JRPGs when it was released on the PS Vita way back in 2012 (or 2013 if you lived in North America). Canonically the fourth game in the series, Ys: Memories of Celceta is part of the that spans all the way back to 1987. Being fourth in line actually means that would follow Ys III: Wanderers from Ys which was released in 1989, so this franchise has some history behind it. As with all Ys games, Memories of Celceta follows series protagonist Adol Christin as he wakes up in the middle of a town square with amnesia. That standard RPG trope is followed up by a chance meeting with a thief named Duren who then tasks Adol with following him to a nearby mine to clear the place of a bad monster infestation. THEGAMER VIDEO OF THE DAY Along the way, Adol realizes he’s actually pretty handy with a sword. The two make short work of the monsters before being approached by the town general who then sends them to map the Great Forest of Celceta--a dangerous proposition, considering nobody has ever returned from that forest alive. From there, Adol tries to recover more of his memories as he tries to figure out who to trust in this strange new world. At the time of the game’s release, Memories of Celceta received high praise from critics and gamers alike. In 2018, developer released a version of the game for , and then released a remastered version for the PS4 in Japan. Localization for North America apparently took a little while, but it’s finally arriving in the West early next year. Get ready to adventure with Adol again starting in the spring of 2020. In addition to the digital release, a physical copy will be made available as well as a deluxe version called the Timeless Adventurer Edition, which contains special art cards and a soundtrack CD.
