Mirage s Winter Express Comes To Apex Legends

Apex Legends announced a new winter event starring Mirage and putting the characters in Christmas outfits. Just revealed at The Game Awards (via a cringe-worthy guest appearance from Mirage) is Apex Legends' holiday event Mirage's Holo-Day Bash. The event is live now in and has several exclusive holiday quips, gun cosmetics, and skins, including an elf skin for Wattson or a nutcracker skin for Mirage himself. Along with a Christmassy look and decorations, there's also a limited-time mode called Winter Express. That pits three squads of three against one another in a capture the point-style game. The event is running from December 12 to January 7, meaning you can play it right now. THEGAMER VIDEO OF THE DAY The main draw of this event is the Winter Express. This Limited Time Mode decks out the train on World's Edge with festive decorations. The competition here is not one of battle royale, but of point capture. To facilitate this, the characters are all given pre-set loadouts so that it becomes less about looting and more about team tactics. First to capture the train three times wins. Players respawn each round and can change characters. It sounds a lot like Overwatch with a holiday Apex flair. Mirage also keeps the party going by parking his flying yacht on the battle royale map. This is his way of throwing a party to kick off the season. Points of interest include the dance floor on the deck, the hot tub, and a button that activates a surprise. Finally, the gifts. There are 24 new cosmetics themed around the holidays. Players can directly purchase them or get them through Event Apex Packs. Event challenges during the Holo-Day Bash will also reward certain event skins, music, and badges. Viewers of The Game Awards are used to seeing surprise announcements. They might not be used to seeing an actual game character talk to them. Mirage actually appearing onscreen and addressing both the crown and host Geoff Keighley was one of the more sudden events of the night. As was the reveal that Mirage's Holo-Day Bash was beginning right then and there. Whether or not the presentation was effective is a debate for another time. We're just glad to see more content come to Apex Legends.
