Stanford out hit the seventh-ranked Washington (11-2, 1-2 Pac-12) .243 to .200, held a 90-79 advantage in digs and matched the Huskies with 13.0 blocks. Plummer had a team-high 18 kills on .268 hitting and five blocks. Redshirt senior Inky Ajanaku totaled 13 kills and six blocks, while freshman middle blocker Audriana Fitzmorrishad nine kills, seven blocks and a career-best four digs.
The Cardinal fell behind early in the first set and was unable to overcome its errors. It was just the second time this season Stanford had dropped the first set. After pulling even in the match with a 25-20 win in the second, the Cardinal had to play some serious catch up in the third trailing 17-10. Stanford went on a 15-4 run to close out the set.
After hitting just .100 in the fourth, Stanford came out strong in the fifth never trailing in the set. The Cardinal is now 3-2 in five-set matches this season. Crissy Jones led Washington with 24 kills, 12 digs and six blocks, while Courtney Schwan added 15 kills and 13 digs. Freshman libero Shayne McPherson had a team-best 24 digs, while Tia Scambray totaled 22 digs.
