EverQuest Creator And Designer Brad McQuaid Passes Away
EverQuest creator Brad McQuaid passed away on November 19, 2019. Via: amarketnews.com It is with sadness that we the passing of Brad McQuaid, most well-known as the lead developer for . McQuaid, who was 51 at the time of his passing, helped spur the massively multiplayer online (MMO) genre that has grown into a powerhouse in recent years. Details surrounding his death have not been publicly released. McQuaid began work as a game programmer and designer in the 1980s, working on a broad range of projects. Everquest was the most well known of these. McQuaid had a direct hand in the designing of the earliest raids, which required several players to join a single party to defeat the most difficult and demanding content in the game. These concepts have since carried over and are a staple of most MMOs, often functioning as endgame content to triumph over. Other key members from the development team joined McQuaid at Sigil. Together, the company developed and released Vanguard: Saga of Heroes in 2007. Years later, assets from the game were sold to Online Entertainment (SOE). Recently, McQuaid had been working at Visionary Realms on Pantheon: Rise of the Fallen, a game that is currently in development.
