Every Main Call Of Duty Game Of The Decade Ranked
During this decade, Activision did not stop producing new Call of Duty entries. Here are all the franchise's 2010s main games ranked by quality. Once again, the franchise has dominated the decade with the popular first-person shooter series releasing more classics. From main titles to spin-offs, the CoD world has continued to be expanded. With 10 main titles being released in this decade, the franchise has managed to sustain its high standard of quality. Producing new stories that have even seen the franchise head to space, the series has continued to be the standard-bearer for this genre. But which game from this decade has been the standout title? Within this list, we will take a look at the 10 main titles from the 2010s and rank them from worst to best. THEGAMER VIDEO OF THE DAY Call Of Duty Black Ops III 2015
The weakest game of the decade from the Call of Duty franchise was 2015's Black Ops III. While by no means a terrible video game, it just doesn't really live up to the high standard that is expected from the franchise. The game focuses on a world in the future where climate change has a big impact alongside new technology. It allowed the game to have a very different dynamic, but it just missed the mark. The four-person co-op gameplay was an interesting addition that offered some huge open levels and a lot of fun. But overall, this just felt much weaker than other releases from this decade. Call Of Duty WWII 2017
2017's game saw the franchise returning to World War II, where Call of Duty had begun in the first place. After countless games set in the present or future, including a trip to space, WWII was a welcome return to a classic story that fans have always been able to invest in. The main campaign for WWII was a lot of fun and saw the franchise returning to simpler ideas. While it was cool to see the series return to its roots, unfortunately, it did miss the mark. With a multiplayer mode that felt lacking in comparison to previous titles and one of the weakest editions from the franchise, WWII failed to stand out. Call Of Duty Ghosts 2013
You would think that the first Call of Duty game to be released on the Xbox One and PS4 would have been an incredible one, wouldn't you? Sadly, Call of Duty: Ghosts isn't quite that. Ghosts attempted for a change of pace from everything that had happened beforehand in the series. Part of the game was in space, another took place in a forest, and some time was even spent in urban areas. Unfortunately, Ghosts ended up taking on too much. The multiplayer mode offered zero changes or innovation, which didn't progress the franchise as was expected. Ghosts was a solid video game, as tends to always be the case with CoD, but it just wasn't fantastic. Call Of Duty Advanced Warfare 2014
Just one year after Ghosts, Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare was released and took the franchise to a whole new level, at least, compared to its predecessor. This was a great game and took the franchise back to just playing as one soldier. The story follows a Marine working alongside a private military corporation, with the campaign offering some fantastic action gameplay. With a nice blend of classic CoD and some future technology mixed in, this really felt like a step forward for the franchise. The new weapons were well received and the graphics were simply stunning. Advanced Warfare was a huge hit all around and was certainly one of the franchise's stronger games of the decade. Call Of Duty Infinite Warfare 2016
Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare was probably the most divisive game in the history of the franchise. Some fans loved the game, whereas others absolutely hated it, however, it does get a lot more negative criticism than it deserves. Taking the franchise away from Earth and into space was certainly a risky decision, adding wall-running, jet packs, and black holes that would suck enemies in. There are certain things that Activision got wrong here, but there's also great elements as well. Infinite Warfare allowed for some huge changes, with amazing weapons being created to suit the new environment. With tremendous online and Zombies modes, Infinite Warfare was far stronger than people gave it credit for. Call Of Duty Modern Warfare 3 2011
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 picked up right where the second version left off, which continued the storyline perfectly. It allowed gamers who had invested time into this sub-series to really feel there was a pay-off. While you didn't have to play the previous games, it certainly enhanced the experience if you had. Tracking down the antagonist from the second game was the main story thread in this campaign, and it was a very interesting one with plenty of twists and turns. There wasn't too much in the way of new additions to the franchise here, but that wasn't a bad thing either. Instead, it just continued on from the success of the previous version and continued with what made that work. Call Of Duty Black Ops 2010
Released right at the start of the decade, Call of Duty: Black Ops saw Treyarch really step up as the premier studio for the franchise. Being set during the Cold War, this game had a particularly interesting storyline. Focusing on conspiracy theories and how the United States could have played a role in the JFK assassination, it was certainly a risk for the franchise. However, it was a risk that certainly paid off. Bringing fresh characters and new ideas in both the story mode and online, Black Ops was a refreshing change of pace for the series. Becoming an instant hit with fans, this has remained one of the best games of the series. Call Of Duty Modern Warfare 2019
This decade's final Call of Duty, Modern Warfare has been a tremendous success for the franchise. Returning back to the popular Modern Warfare sub-series was a welcome decision and one that paid off. Modern Warfare focuses on some very mature topics and follows a CIA officer and British SAS forces as they team up with rebels to take on Russian forces. With an amazing mode and a multiplayer mode that allows for cross-platform play, this game is truly fantastic. People wanted to see the return for a long time and when it finally happened, the franchise didn't let many fans down. With arguably the greatest graphics in CoD history to back it up, this has set a high bar for the new decade to come. Call Of Duty Black Ops 2 2012
Next up on the list is 2012's Call of Duty: Black Ops 2, the final last-generation entry before the arrivals of the PS4 and Xbox One. Despite not getting to be on those new platforms, it certainly ensured the previous consoles went out with a bang. The game was innovative and took the Black Ops sub-series to a new level. Being set in both the past and the future, Black Ops 2 allowed the player to choose the narrative through choices that they made. It provided arguably the greatest story in the history of the franchise, regardless of the decade. The story was thrilling and the fact that everything was down to the player added a real sense of personal accomplishment, or regret, depending on one's decisions. Call Of Duty Black Ops 4 2018
When it comes to the best Call of Duty from this decade, Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 takes the top prize. This 2018 release is an incredible video game that continued the Black Ops series in a tremendous manner. This game took a huge risk and left out the campaign mode to instead offer a competitive multiplayer system. From Zombies and a battle royale mode, Black Ops 4 focused on the elements that made CoD as popular as it is. Battle royale-style games have become immensely popular in this decade, and Black Ops 4 certainly knocked it out of the park with its version.
