Ultimate Guide To Destiny 2 The Stuff Of Myth

This guide will cover how to start the campaign, what every major game mode is, and why so many people play Destiny 2. It's the game's ultimate guide. With going free to play recently, a large surge of players has come to try the game out. The gunplay pulls most right in, and the gorgeous vistas help tease a world that is full of wonder and intrigue. Unfortunately, the tutorial in this game is rather poor, not discussing core game modes or how to access story content. This guide will cover how to start the campaign, what every major game mode is, and why so many people play Bungie's successor to the series. Here is the ultimate guide to becoming a legend in Destiny 2. THEGAMER VIDEO OF THE DAY

Director

Via: YouTube The director is fancy phrase for your map. This is where you will plan what missions to go on, what planets to explore, and what loot to chase. The playlist on the bottom of the screen—strikes, gambit, and the crucible—each provides powerful engrams for players to earn when completing weekly challenges. These engrams provide noticeable level bonuses up to a current cap of 960 power, but this can be advanced to 970 through the acquisition of pinnacle gear, which can be earned from various methods we'll cover later down the list. Campaign missions, planets, and quest missions are all stored in this map. Get comfortable navigating it, as you'll be using it a lot during your journey.

Weapons

Why bother with completing all of the missions present in Destiny? For loot, of course! The engrams players get are decrypted at the Tower—Destiny's Hub town—to provide epic weapons and armor. Armor was recently revamped, so that'll be covered later. However, weapons are pretty simple. There are 3 weapon types: primary, special, and heavy. Heavy weapons only go in your third weapon slot, while your first two weapon slots are interchangeable between primary and special, similar to games like or Halo. Special weapons are more powerful but ammo for them is more scarce. Each weapon comes with a random combination of perks, allowing guns to make enemies explode on death or make your guns reload blazingly fast. Keep an eye out for reload perks like Outlaw combined with damage perks like Rampage or Kill Clip.

Story

Before you begin grinding your heart out for weapons and armor, you should play the story to understand what Destiny is about and what is currently happening because, quite frankly, the game does a terrible job getting new players engaged. When you finish the tutorial mission in the Cosmodrome, you'll be greeted by the denizens in the Tower. Head to the Tower's hanger area. It's to your left when you load in, or the rightmost part of the map. Once there, talk to Amanda Holiday to start the Red War and Year 1 DLC campaigns. The Forsaken and Shadowkeep campaigns are only accessible if you have bought those DLCs, but everything else is free. Try Red War first, as that's what originally shipped with the game. It'll give you a grasp of what Guardians stand for, what types of missions are available, and why the Cabal—giant space rhinos—are on nearly every planet.

Strikes And Nightfalls

At any time during or after the campaign, you can choose to participate in Strikes. Strikes are effectively matchmade missions focused more on mechanics and gunplay than plot. Don't worry, there's nothing too complex here, that's what Raids are for. Strikes come with daily and weekly modifiers players can observe by clicking on the Strike playlist and hovering over the icons above the Strike playlist title. For those who find them too easy, Nightfalls are available for more experienced players to test their metal. Master Nightfalls are amazing for earning exotic items, some of the strongest gear Destiny has to offer, and even offer pinnacle engrams to level past 960 power. Note that the two highest difficulty modes do not have matchmaking, meaning you'll need to find 2 other players you can trust before trying these daunting incursions. Great loot awaits for those who can conquer these missions.

Crucible

via YouTube Don't fancy fighting AI? Give Crucible a shot! This game mode is Destiny's player versus player (PvP) offering. Both casual and competitive playlists exist for everyone to enjoy, with competitive rewarding exclusive weapons players must earn by completing quests. Domination, Team Deathmatch, Free for All, and Search and Destroy are all game modes players can try out. If players want to earn pinnacle gear from PvP, they can wait for the monthly Iron Banner event, where power levels are accounted for in PvP. Unique, high-level loot is awarded to those who can stand against the toughest of Guardians. No truly hardcore competitive experience is available as of now, but there are rumors the famous Trials game mode will make a reprise sometime this year.

Gambit

via polygon.com If you love fighting aliens but also enjoy shooting a fellow Guardian, you might enjoy what Gambit provides. This 4 versus 4 game mode tasks players with summoning and killing a boss as fast as possible. Enemy minions drop motes that players carry and bank at the center of the map. When enough motes are banked at once, it sends enemies to the other team they must deal with. Each mote bank helps contribute to your team's boss spawning, but you can lose your motes when you die by an AI or enemy invader. When the boss spawns, you damage it as fast as you can. The first team to down their boss wins. There are tons of strategies possible with this mode, allowing for plenty of replay value for PvE and PvP lovers alike.

Quests

via Bungie Destiny 2 Unique missions are available for players to complete, each rewarding unique shaders, weapons, armor, and even Exotics. These are stored in your quests tab in your menu, to the left of your Director menu. When you unlock a quest, see if the background is a yellow color. If it is, congratulations! You just obtained an Exotic quest to earn an Exotic item. Complete what it asks of you and you can obtain some . Unique missions and even locations are tied to some of these quests, so do as many as you can to see all that Destiny has to offer.

Armor 2 0

Armor has been mentioned as a reward multiple times, but what does armor do for you? Besides farming to you, every armor piece comes with unique stats that benefit gameplay. Six stats are available on your armor, each affecting an ability or mechanic. More important are the mods you can slot in your armor. Every armor piece has mod sockets in them you can slot buffs into. Want to reduce your grenade cooldown? Slot in a discipline mod. Want to regenerate your health on a finisher? Put a healthy finisher mod on your cape. This system allows for endless customization, all while allowing players to look the way they want. For those who love farming, duplicate armor pieces drop with different stat amounts, so those who play the hardest activities will have the best armor in the game.

Seasonal Artifact

Via: gosunoob.com Special mods are in your Artifact item. These Artifacts reset every season, but the mods that are tied to them can enable entirely new playstyles not possible before. When players earn their Artifact, just earn experience and play the game to power it up. Some mods are objectively better versions of base items, while others add new mechanics that you will want to try. This is an entirely optional system, but those who wish to do Raids will want to utilize this system to the fullest.

Raids

This is Destiny's best content. These Raids rival the complexity and spectacle seen in most like . You need to try one if you plan to play Destiny a ton. These six-man activities task players to kill bosses or solve puzzles under strict circumstances. Failure affects the entire team. Bosses have half a dozen mechanics to manage. The stakes are high. If the team can work together, the payout is massive, awarding some of the strongest Exotics and unique Legendary weapons in the game.
