10 Things We Want To See In Star Wars Rise To Power

Star Wars: Rise to Power has loads of potential but several issues hold it back. These things could be added to make it something great. With the open alpha out we got a taste of what Star Wars: Rise to Power is like and already have hopes and ideas on what it should be and how it will turn out. It may not meet those expectations but it's fair to be a positive critic on the gameplay elements in hopes of them improving, if not at release then post-release. Most of the issues are things common in EA's practices and the mobile gaming market, making it unlikely for a better change. has promise to be a good game, however, it's currently bogged down by a lot of bad gameplay choices that affect players negatively and create an imbalance to the system. THEGAMER VIDEO OF THE DAY

Less Pay to Win

Much like most the mobile market, was filled with paid elements that gave people who paid a lot advantages over others. The only problem is none of the upgrades are regenerative, they are disposable. Whatever upgrades and speed boosts you buy, you first have to buy their in-game currency, which is nonrefundable. If the ship you upgraded or base that you boosted gets destroyed, all the money you put into them is lost. Add in that there's no sleep mode and it's possible someone with a stronger armada destroys your whole armada while you sleep. Right now, the balance is completely off with the best and most powerful players in the game being the ones who put out the most money to have a full armada in half the time and better upgrades. If they balanced the game so that it was naturally more fair to players it would make things a lot better.

No Ship Loss

Most Of is based around building your armada to fight other players, but it's also the part that has the most pay to win aspects. The salvageable upgraded ships make it so you lose whatever money you put into the game. All ships you have can be destroyed when you're inactive, making it so you have to watch the screen every second to make sure your base isn't getting attacked. It would be great if EA made it so that if you bought something, it was safer than investing in the stock market. Returnable or salvageable upgrades without paying a fee would fix that issue.

More Comfortable Upgrading

A better upgrading system is needed as the current one is slow and tedious. It forces players and constantly reminds them of payment options. It could take a month to get a decent armada without paying because of the limits there are on how much upgrading you can do a day. Of course, those upgrade limits are eliminated if you pay for them. This could destroy a player base by making it too slow to be entertaining. The limits should be eliminated if the person has enough currency to upgrade let them do so.

Jails

A cool addition would be coalition jails for those who try to usurp the current leader of a certain coalition. It would add more drama in the player based story. It could work for capturing enemy factions and creating rescue missions for their friends. A player in jail could join other coalitions or make for jailbreaks from supporters in his coalition to set them free.

Real-time Action Fights

Most of the screens are static one frame picture and don't show whatever space fight you are in. This makes for a very boring experience for most players, especially since they will be spending most of their time training their base and upgrading it. Simple explosion animations can improve the experience or actually showing the battle. The static screen feels very unenthusiastic and cheap.

Unjoinable AI Guilds

A good thing for players who have internet problems is to have enemy factions for both sides or to conquer for resources. It would fix a lot of the issues in the game dealing with paying for upgrades and resources and the slow process of upgrading without money. It would lead to a lot more for people to do to boost the interactivity. Players could also join aligning side NPC guilds if they are getting attacked so people don't spam it for resources. It would be easy to make the armadas weak so that if a player does join a fight they don't get overpowered.

AI Planets to Take Over

AI NPC planets to take over for resources would be great to introduce new players and keep players active. It could also lead to good monthly events where players could compete for taking over the most NPC planets, which could lead to a lot of good battles as a player tries to interfere with others to help the planet from getting taken over.

Long Term Events

Monthly goals and events are really something that can boost the activity in the game. While this is likely something that's already planned, a variety of different events would boost it over the top. From badges to monthly achievements that can go on people's profiles, this would be welcome.

Fewer Speed Boosts

They are everywhere for every aspect, and can only be bought with in-game currency. It's a money hole because each of these upgrades is disposable. If they get destroyed, bye-bye all the speed boosts you bought specifically for those ships. It would be better if most were gone. A company is allowed to make money if it's a free game but not to the point where the game is barely playable unless you pay for every additional aspect.

Sleep Mode

The biggest issue is if you aren't on the game at the right time, there's a good chance you will fall victim to a sneak attack and lose all your ships and bases. This is horrible. You drop $30 or more on that to be the leader on the game with the most stuff and the money is gone within a night's sleep. To make this more player-friendly there should be an inactive mode where your assets get signed out so they don't get attacked and you lose everything.
