He was an All-SEC defensive back and return specialist at Vanderbilt, where he played four seasons with the Commodores from 1997-2000. He averaged 23 yards per return as a kick returner. He finished ninth in all of college football in 1998 with 678 kickoff return yards. In his first two seasons at Vanderbilt, he played primarily at running back, racking up 807 yards from scrimmage and four touchdowns with the Commodores. He also racked up 10 career interceptions along with two kickoffs and punt returns for touchdowns with Vanderbilt.
