Evil Geniuses Finally Return to Professional CS GO - By Picking Up The Entire NRG Roster

Evil Geniuses look to be returning to professional CS:GO after seven years - with NRG's roster. North American esports organization Evil Geniuses is set to make an unexpected return to Counter-Strike in the coming days. Reliable CS:GO journalist Jarek “DeKay” Lewis that the organization plans to sign the current NRG Esports roster, who now stand as a top-five team in the world. via StarLadder Evil Geniuses first joined the Counter-Strike scene in 2007, sponsoring a number of North American rosters in CS 1.6. Notable Counter-Strike community figures Jordan “n0thing” Gilbert and Tomi “lurppis” Kovanen both played under the EG banner in the 1.6 era. Evil Geniuses officially left Counter-Strike in 2012 as the Global Offensive era began, and have never had a CS:GO roster. The organization was rumored to be signing top NA talents Joshua "steel" Nissan and Spencer "Hiko" Martin in 2014, though the iBuyPower match-fixing scandal and subsequent bans prevented EG from reentering the scene. The organization houses rosters in multiple prominent esports games, including Fortnite and Rainbow Six Siege. Since stanislaw’s signing, the North American squad has made semi-final appearances at BLAST Pro Series Los Angeles and the StarLadder Berlin Major. Their top-four finish in Berlin was the best Major performance in the organization’s history. NRG is next expected to play at ESL One New York later this week, though Lewis’s report suggests that they will play the NYC event under the Evil Geniuses name. NRG have climbed up the CS:GO scene over the last year, peaking at a top-three world after their Berlin Major performance. Young stars Ethan "Ethan" Arnold and Vincent "Brehze" Cayonte are widely regarded as some of the best talents in North America. via StarLadder Evil Geniuses is just one of many organizations looking to make a return to the professional Counter-Strike scene. Prominent orgs like , , and have announced their plans to venture back into the game. NRG first entered the Counter-Strike scene in 2016, though they haven't found consistent results until recently. The young core of Ethan, Brehze, and Bulgarian AWPer Tsvetelin "CeRq" Dimitrov has propelled them to victories at IEM Shanghai 2018 and cs_summit 3. The team has made consistent top-four placings at big events throughout 2019. It is currently unknown if NRG plan to sign a new roster in their place or leave CS:GO altogether. Regardless of what name they play under, this roster's next showing will come in their ESL One New York opening match against FaZe Clan. The New York tournament is slated to begin on Thursday, September 26th.
