Shmup Fans Rejoice Psikyo Shooting Stars Collections Are Coming To The West

Psikyo Shooting Stars Alpha and Bravo collections will be coming to Nintendo Switch in North American and Europe next year. Via: YouTube.com(NIS America) NIS America has announced that both Psikyo Shooting Stars Alpha and Psikyo Shooting Stars Bravo game collections will be released on the Nintendo Switch in North American and Europe. Psikyo Shooting Stars Alpha will launch in North America on January 21, 2020, and in Europe on January 24, 2020, while the Bravo collection will be arriving later. Psikyo was created in 1992 in Japan and went on to create multiple arcade-style shoot 'em ups throughout its nearly thirteen-year history, including Gunbird, Strikers, Sol Divide, Zero Gunner, and Dragon Blaze. Due to its popularity, some of the aforementioned arcade series would be ported over to the PlayStation, Sega Saturn, Sega Dreamcast, and PlayStation 2. In 2002, Psikyo became a subsidiary of X-Nauts and continued operations until 2005 when it ultimately closed its doors for good. THEGAMER VIDEO OF THE DAY Now, NIS America is joining forces with video game developer City Connection to bring back some of Psikyo's most iconic titles through two separate collections. The collections, Psikyo Shooting Stars Alpha and Bravo, will contain six titles each. As the demand for traditional Japanese titles increases in the West, this move isn't all that surprising. Given that there hasn't been a lot of competition for shoot 'em up games, this is a perfect time for the company to release these collections to the masses. If both collections sell well out west, it might lead to other publishers to follow suit in the future. According to , a collectors edition version of each release will be available, which will include an official soundtrack, an official art booklet, and art cards. The first collection, Psikyo Shooting Stars Alpha, will contain Strikers 1945, Strikers 1945 II, Strikers 1945 III, Sol Divide, Dragon Blaze, and Zero Gunner 2. The second collection, Psikyo Shooting Stars Bravo, will include Samurai Aces Episode I, Samurai Aces Episode II: Tengai, Samurai Aces Episode III: Sengoku Cannon, GunBarich, Gunbird, and Gunbird 2. Both collections will have single-player or co-op with the option to play the game horizontally or vertically. It's nice to see that NIS America is offering fans something more than just a digital bundle. It makes sense since it would be hard to convince prospective buyers to spend $59.99 on either collection given how old the games are. Source:
