May 31, 2021 Where did it go wrong, what next and who will be making the big decisions on recruitment? Just some of the questions you’ve asked in our end-of-season mailbag. There’s plenty to ponder over after that dismal end to the campaign, but there are also some things to look back on fondly as we also discuss what needs to change to avoid another season of disappointment. This summer, does the club “back the manager” and unreservedly allow Carlo Ancelloti to bring in the players he wants even if they are older with little sell-on value like Allan and James Rodriguez? Or does the club protect itself and only sign younger players that will at least retain value (like Ben Godfrey) and say any new manager would have more preference to work with when the time eventually comes? — Jeff C Will our transfer strategy depend on the outgoing transfers?
