He Was Just Added To Don t Starve Together

On July 25th, it was announced that Warly would be added to Don't Starve Together, the multiplayer version of Don't Starve. He's the third character refresh in Don't Starve Together and is available free to all the game's players. Based on his quotes when he examines items, gets hurt, and attacks monsters, it's safe to assume that Warly was once a chef living in France. Some of Warly's quotes are French words and when he kills a spider, he says that he hopes it doesn't start to rain after he kills them, something that is a reference to an old superstition that killing a spider in your home will cause rain to come.

But Was Introduced In Shipwrecked

Warly isn't a new character to Don't Starve Together. Warly was originally introduced in the Shipwrecked DLC for Don't Starve. In Shipwrecked, he was the ninth character that a player could unlock by getting experience in the game. As a character in Shipwrecked, Warly could be played alongside other characters like Woodlegs, Walani, and Wilbur. Will those characters be the next ones to be brought over to Don't Starve Together from Shipwrecked? Maybe! We'll just have to see what Klei Entertainment, the game's developer, has in store for these characters.

He Spawns With Helpful Items

When a player chooses Warly and starts the game up, he's already got a few useful items in his inventory. He spawns with a portable crockpot, a potato, and a piece of garlic. This is super handy because it kickstarts the player's ability to start cooking and have some excellent food ready to go so you're not stuck eating berries and raw meat. Another huge bonus is the fact that his crockpot can be taken anywhere. Unlike the regular crockpot in the game, Warly can pick up his portable crockpot and take it wherever he wants. So, if you find yourself away from your permanent camp for a while, you won't go hungry.

He Loves Food

Every character in the Don't Starve franchise has some unique quirks. Wormwood loves to plant things and can plant without a farm, Wendy has her twin sister's ghost follow her everywhere, and Maxwell is able to manage his sanity quite easily. Warly is no different from the other characters in the game in that he also has some unique features. The main thing is that Warly absolutely loves food. He loves to cook and is passionate about food which is why he spawns with a crockpot and ingredients. He can also craft a special pouch that keeps food fresh longer!

But Won t Eat It Raw

As much as Warly loves food, there are some limitations to how and what he'll eat. While eating berries and carrots that you find out in the world is a good way of getting a bit of your hunger refilled when you're just starting out, that's not possible if you're playing Warly. If you try to get him to eat anything raw without putting it in the crock pot first, Warly won't even try it. Along with refusing to eat food raw, Warly gets bored with food easily. So, cooking up a whole bunch of meaty stew all at once may sound like a good idea and a total time-saver, but it's not. Warly gets tired of eating the same foods and they become less effective with each meal. Repeated foods will give the player a 10% to 70% loss on the value of the food.

He Has Unique Recipes

Because Warly loves food so much, it makes sense that he's able to make special foods. He's the only character that can use his portable crockpot and he's also the only character that can cook a few specific recipes. If Warly uses his portable crockpot, he can create the following four unique recipes: Sweet Potato Souffle, Monster Tartare, Fresh Fruit Crepes, and Mussel Bouillabaise. Along with the unique cooking recipes that he can make, Warly is also the only character that can craft a special pouch that can be equipped and keeps food fresh longer. But Warly isn't the only character that can equip this pouch! He can craft one for other players so everyone can keep their food from going stale.

But Gets Hungry Fast

It's a good thing that Warly loves to cook because he gets hungry faster than other characters in the game. That means that if you're heading out any distance from your camp, you should consider taking your portable crockpot with you in order to cook something up on the go. Warly's hunger drains 33% faster than other characters in the game. Luckily, he gains 33% more hunger from meals that he makes in his portable crockpot. Still, the fact that he gets hungry so quickly and gets tired of eating the same meals over and over can make playing Warly pretty challenging for some players.

His Crock Pot Is Special

The fact that Warly can take his crockpot anywhere with him isn't the only special thing about it. It can make a few special recipes and can be taken anywhere in the world in the player's inventory which are two things that definitely make it appealing. Along with those features, the potable crockpot is also special because of the fact that it cooks meals 25% faster. If you're struggling to get a fire going, it can also give off just enough light to keep Charlie at bay when it's cooking. But only use this feature in emergencies, it still drains the player's sanity like you're in complete darkness.

His Animated Short Was So Sad

Warly is one of the characters that Klei released an animated short to introduce. These animated shorts are a good way of seeing what the character's life was like before they found themselves in The Constant and show off their personality and gameplay style. Warly's is called Taste of Home and shows Warly living with his Maman Angeline. Sadly, Maman Angeline suffered from dementia and had forgotten Warly. But after he fed her one of his exclusive recipes, it showed her remember him and the world around them. Unfortunately, her memories faded back away. After Warly took the empty bowl to the kitchen, he was pulled into The Constant.

The Short Made Fans Speculate

Warly's short made fans wonder about his life before he found himself in The Constant. Along with totally breaking all our hearts to see Maman Angeline forget about him, it gave us an insight into what his life was like before The Constant. But it also made fans speculate about his life and what he's doing in The Constant. According to some fan theories about the Don't Starve games, Warly may have chosen to enter The Constant in exchange for his Maman Angeline getting her memories back.
