The reveal would have been a lot more exciting if the news hadn't leaked several times over the previous few weeks, but the fans were still thrilled to finally see the game ported to the Nintendo Switch. The reason why companies do this is that the physical cartridges used by the Nintendo Switch are more expensive to produce than the discs used by PlayStation 4/PC/Xbox One, and the price only increases with the size of the game. Nintendo is great at keeping the file sizes down for its first-party games, but many third-party developers are not as careful. Therefore, it's not uncommon to see modern games that are over fifty gigabytes in size. The paltry size of the Nintendo Switch's internal memory has made purchasing a decent micro SD card a necessity. The fact that Overwatch receives regular significant updates, as well, will mean that this file size will only increase as time goes on.
