As it turns out, the physical version of the game is just a code in a box. was revealed during the September 4 Nintendo Direct, where it was the first game unveiled during the presentation. The reveal would have been a lot more exciting if the news hadn't leaked several times over the previous few weeks, but the fans were still thrilled to finally see the game ported to the Nintendo Switch. THEGAMER VIDEO OF THE DAY There is a physical edition of the Nintendo Switch port of Overwatch available for purchase, but the fans might not be as interested in purchasing it when they discover that the game is just a code in a box. According to , the Nintendo Switch version of Overwatch Legendary Edition lacks a cartridge. The official page for Overwatch on the Nintendo website lists the file size for the game as 12.1 GB. via: playoverwatch.com Overwatch is not the first game to do this, of course. Several compilation titles have only offered a cartridge for one game and given the remaining titles out through codes, as was the case with X/X-2 HD Remaster. The reason why companies do this is that the physical cartridges used by the Nintendo Switch are more expensive to produce than the discs used by PlayStation 4/PC/Xbox One, and the price only increases with the size of the game. Nintendo is great at keeping the file sizes down for its first-party games, but many third-party developers are not as careful. Therefore, it's not uncommon to see modern games that are over fifty gigabytes in size. The paltry size of the Nintendo Switch's internal memory has made purchasing a decent micro SD card a necessity. The fact that Overwatch receives regular significant updates, as well, will mean that this file size will only increase as time goes on. Overwatch Legendary Edition will be released for the Nintendo Switch on October 15, 2019. Source:
